Cycling is a simple, affordable, and environmentally friendly means of transport. Increasing walking and cycling could reduce transport sector emissions by 50%.

“Life is like riding a bicycle. To keep your balance, you must keep moving.”

Fantastic to see the @livingstreets new, in-depth report on creating safe, inclusive bus stop, pavement & cycle track provision for #Disabled people on streets where traffic levels mean protected cycleways are needed for safety.

Pavements should be for people, not cars.

"God no, have you been to Sheffield?"
I know that we have plenty of hills, but this isn't a great endorsement of Labour in Sheffield by their own MP for Heeley and Shadow Transport Minister, @LouHaigh.
We need more active travel to improve personal health and air quality.
The DfT’s decision earlier this year to cut the budget for cycling and walking schemes in England by around 75 percent, can be legally challenged, following a decision at the High Court https://t.co/dFSQkMUCkr
Bikeability brilliance in Bath! @Wera_Hobhouse and Cllr Sarah Warren praise Bikeability for getting the families of @bathnes cycling with confidence.

Cycling is a healthy, environmentally friendly way to get about. @BikeabilityUK training enables people of all ages to become confident cyclists.
I look forward to seeing their training expanded further and taken up by more Bath schools🚲
Our Director illustrating why #ActiveTravel makes so much sense for her as a wheelchair user: health benefits + time saving + reduced stress & discomfort compared to wheeling on footways.
We fight for the choice to travel actively, whether #Walking, #Wheeling or #Cycling for all
When we're told we're a "nation of drivers", so many of us are excluded.
We need safe streets, accessible pavements, comprehensive cycle and mobility networks and high quality public transport in order to provide #MobilityJustice and #Equity to all.

The 'Plan for Drivers' robs people of their travel choices, entrenching congestion and pollution.
LTNs and 20mph zones are vital measures that support people to cycle, freeing up road space for those who really do need to drive.

Along with fellow Active Travel Commissioners @Ed_Clancy, @DameSarahStorey & @simonobtv1, I've written to @RishiSunak about the Plan for Drivers.
We believe the most effective plan for drivers will be to get right behind the Government’s own Gear Change plan.
Here's why 🧵👇
Want to support the taxi trade? It's been shown that private car ownership within LTNs drops by about 1% per year after 1st year of implementation - people without their own cars are more likely to get a taxi for journeys they can't walk or cycle but would have driven themselves!
It is shameful of the Tories that they have scrapped the statutory guidance on supporting active travel (the same guidance that they introduced!). Any real "Plan for drivers" needs investment in active travel and public transport at its *core*. 🧵
Want easier car parking? Support active travel! A single car parking space can hold approx 14 bikes. More secure bike parking enables more trips by bikes. Providing space for bikes means even fewer cars in front and more car parking spaces for those who really need them!
