This was first discovered by the ancient Indian Rishis,they noted that
the Great Bear/ Saptarshis/big dipper with the help of pole point or pole star make a certain shape & a certain geometery in the sky and this geometry was important as it showed 4 cardinal points and division of 6 seasons within this 4 cardinal points.

When it points right side upwards 12pm position, it was the time of springs,when at 3pm position upright summer solstice followed by sharad/autumn and winter like a seasonal clock.

In the Shrot sutras,Griha sutras and Dharma sutras there is a mention of 'viewing the polestar with Saptarshi' ie that pole star has to be seen with the help of Saptarshi ie Great Bear constellation.The ancient Indians followed this method.

In current times the two of the stars of Saptarshi excactly point to the pole point ie Polaris or the Dhruv star. Big dipper /Saptarshi creates a sign of Swastik with pole star,though shaped moving clockwise ,in reality moves anticlockwise.

In spring time it is horizontal 3pm position and downwards and them moves anticlockwise upwards in the summer at 12.00pm position in autumn at 9.00pm position and 6.00pm position in the winter time.Therefore the sages said "May these all direction be auspicious" thats where it was called 'su asti' which later on became swasti and then Swastik.

Going back to the time when Thuban was the pole star in 3000 to 4000BCE the shape of the Swastika became it's mirror opposite and moved clockwise as it came nearer to the pole point Thuban,and this type of pattern got to be called as called "Sauvastika" mentioned in Brittanica

The IVC Seal found in Harappa shows reverse Swastik ie the Suavastika of Thuban times.
People were seen to change the embossing pattern with changing times.
In the prehistoric stone in Iran 7000BCE shows reverse swastika...They were aware as what symbol should be used at what point of time.After 3000BCE the sign should have shifted back to Swastika rightsided.
Between Thuban and polaris we have a gap of 5000 years show that people were aware of pole stars and its relation with the great bear. It also shows that knowledge was travelling from India to Central asia,China and greece,Southeast Asian countries with good amount of cultural exchange.

Swastika was made not just a part of Indian ritual but it was meant to remember the position of Saptarshi/ Great bear with respect to the position of the pole star for astronomical purpose. Rather than religion it was scientific to understand and that it showed how accurately ancient Indians were measuring precession of equinoxes and axial position.

Due to break in this oral continuity the astronomical knowledge got lost though religious value remained intact in India.

Unfortunately misused by Nazis and equated as Hackencruz.

Sanskrit, a unifying artificial language, was last refined by Panini in the 5th century BC. He mentioned at least ten predecessors. It has an estimated 74 million words, exact meanings changed by prefixes and suffixes.

It spawned Greek, Latin and Slavic tongues, spoken by over three billion today. Words like “sthan” echo in Afghanistan, Uzbekistan etc. showing Sanskrit’s vast inland reach. Veda (knowledge) became Latin “videre” and Slovenian “veda”. “Ashva” (horse) became Lithuanian “asva”. “Samudra” (sea) is the same word in Indonesian and “samot” in Thai.

India’s linguistic legacy was spread by land and sea. India, not the steppe, was the Indo-European cradle.

This remarkable find adds a new chapter to our understanding of early European societies along the Danube. It shows how even in the distant past, people expressed profound spiritual ideas through art, turning clay into a vessel of belief, identity, and imagination that still speaks across the ages.
