Delighted to see big interest of 🇪🇺Member States in #SAFE loans. Up to €150 bn will reach European defence industry & contribute to ramping up European defence #Readiness
This is a major step towards achieving our defence goals quickly & decisively!

As the deadline to submit requests for #SAFE loans is almost here, I am impressed to hear that already now
✅at least 20 🇪🇺Member States will request the loans
✅more than €100 bn will be requested to ramp up European Defence #Readiness2030
Want peace - be Ready for Defence!
Europe can no longer afford to be a bystander in its own security.
Today, we take decisive steps to ensure our defence is in our hands.
We are unveiling the ReARM Europe Plan / Readiness 2030 and the White Paper on the Future of European Defence / Readiness 2030 ↓
We are putting forward unprecedented proposals to scale up, speed up and unite European defence spending! 🛡️
If ReArm, notably through SAFE, offers financial instruments we need for defence, the White Paper for European Defence outlines how to spend it in the most effective way
Congratulations to @KubiliusA for his successful hearing as Commissioner-designate for Defence and Space
@defis_eu is fully committed to boost the military readiness of Member States for a true Defence Union and to reinforce the resilience & competitiveness of our space industry
Intensive preparation for the hearings is coming to an end. A big thank you to DG DEFIS, COM colleagues, scholars and experts who shared their knowledge with me.
Tune in to the @Europarl_EN broadcast on 6 November to learn what the future holds for European defense and space.
We continue to fulfill #EDIS with the first meeting of the #EU-NATO dialogue on defence industry.
As we support 🇺🇦 and invest in our readiness, the European industry must keep up the pace. EU-NATO dialogue on demand aggregation, joint procurement and standardisation is crucial.
Wrote a joint letter with 14 #EUCO leaders.
There is an increased need for more investments in the security and defence sector in Europe.
One avenue to achieve this is to enhance @EIB’s financing for security and defence in line with EU’s priorities.

@Ce_Moll Always a pleasure. Let me know when you’re in BXL. Texts are complex because we’re trying to address several complex issues. I genuinely believe they can make a big difference, bearing in mind it aims at supporting readiness industry not to replace MS !
@Ce_Moll More complex than that. Edirpa was 15 to 20% funding rate, only to support cooperation on joint procurement of most critical and urgent items. EDIP is much more than that, funding rate varies according to actions which are edirpa / asap like plus many more.
@Ce_Moll Complex matter for twitter chat 😃. 3 in edirpa yes. Use of national contract (lead nation) perfectly fine (by the way edis / edip ease procurement directive précisely to facilitate opening up of national framework contracts to others MS so no time waster in procedures.
@Ce_Moll Doesn’t matter how. 3 MS using NSPA or Occar or EDA to procure is perfectly fine. Objective is that they cooperate in procurement. It’s the edirpa logic where by tue way 300 mln of EU budget will generate al least 1.5 bn of collaborative procurement
@Ce_Moll Christian, catchy figure but you can’t mix apples and peers. Namely Def investment budget, overall def budget and EU funding meant with the co-funding principle to incentivize specific things….
Today we set our vision for defence readiness with Europe’s defence industrial strategy.
It will support Member States to not only spend more, but better, together and European.
And link Ukraine’s know-how with our defence industry to facilitate innovation.
Our job at @defis_eu is to implement thought-out #DefenceIndustry policies to ensure 🇪🇺 security, resilience and autonomy
With that in mind our teams delivered today the 1st ever Defence Industrial Strategy- #EDIS & a proposal to set up European Defence Industry Programme- #EDIP
It was a strong industrial commitment and we did it — 2 months ahead of schedule ✔️🇪🇺
It is official: we now have reached an industrial production capacity of 1,000,000 ammunition rounds per year.
And we will be above 1.4 million by the end of this year.
