Investigation: In Lebanon, cash companies are flooding the market with gift cards — a new loophole to bypass Anti Money Laundering rules, evade taxes & fuel illicit trade.

2/ These cards, often loaded with $10,000+, are issued in bulk. They’ve become an “anonymous” currency — one that regulators are turning a blind eye to.

3/ Corporates are complicit:
•Salary ceiling on digital wallets = $3,500
•Solution? Pay the rest in gift cards
➡️ A tax evasion scheme hiding in plain sight.

4/ Beyond corporate abuse, these cards are being used to settle payments in the captagon & drug trade — from buyer to dealer, no oversight, no trace.

5/ People now hold stacks of these cards like cash, defeating every principle of KYC, transparency & financial accountability.

6/ I call on:
•Central Bank
•Banking Control Commission
•Finance Minister Yassin Jaber
👉 Investigate corporates paying salaries via cash companies
👉 Audit the explosion in gift card issuance

7/ Lebanon cannot afford yet another black hole in its financial system. What’s being marketed as “convenience” is in reality AML evasion, tax fraud & drug trade facilitation.

8/ ✍️ This is not innovation. It’s corruption with a barcode.

Yesterday, Hezbollah unleashed its gang of motorcycles in Beirut — as a show of strength and also a calculated tactic. Their goal: to overstretch and overwhelm the Lebanese Army, crippling its ability to respond and projecting the image of a weak, ineffective force.

This was not random. The choice to move into predominantly Christian and Sunni areas is deliberate — a message of intimidation and provocation , a test of boundaries, and an attempt to deepen divisions.

Adding fuel to the fire are the statements of their disillusioned leaders, spinning mythical tales instead of political facts, feeding the youth with Islamic ideology and rallying them to a cause that serves the militia’s power, not Lebanon’s unity.

A nation cannot stand when its army is systematically undermined, nor can citizens live freely under the shadow of an armed militia acting above the state.
