Over 65 years ago warned us all that the United States would be ruined by toxic empathy.
“False compassion… is a pity shown not to the mugged, but to the mugger; not to the family of the murdered, but to the murderer.”
And here we are today…
Good, as a teacher myself it doesn’t belong in the classroom. Those conversations are for parents to have with their children, not public schools who already fail to teach an abundance of incredibly important information. Young people are graduating high school with absolutely no idea how function as an adult, we have a public education system that is completely failing our nations youth in nearly every aspect, and you’re worried about what fucking flag you can or can’t have up in classroom 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
I resigned from Anthropic today. I spent the last three years doing pretraining research at both OpenAI and Anthropic. Neither company is acting responsibly. They are racing straight to self-improving superintelligence and gambling with our lives. More thoughts below.
He was 31.
Under a tent on a college campus, he was doing what he always did- talking to students.
He had already spoken about Jesus that morning.
He thought the event would be a win.
A student asked a question.
Charlie asked one back.
Those were his last words.
The people who loved him say he felt no pain.
His friend said his eyes were already looking past this world.
His wife said he looked like he died happy.
He left a wife and two little kids.
He didn’t die in an office or on a stage far from the crowd.
He died in the middle of a conversation.
That’s the part that stays with people.
