@LifeFlipside said it:
There is no work-life balance in medicine.
Instead, embrace
Work-life integration
Nurture the best version of yourself
Extend grace to yourself and others

After finishing training, I was inundated with “Hey, Jimmy, do you want to…”
… join this committee
… write a book chapter
… help with this study
… teach students in X or Y
I felt so much pressure to say yes.
Until I created my Hell Yes Policy

Amidst the meeting between federal, provincial, and territorial health ministers, @AlikaMD gave a special briefing on the state of Canada’s health care system as experienced by patients and providers, with guidance on how to move forward. /1
Many #healthcare crises competing for attention this week as health ministers across Canada gather together in Vancouver.
@CMA_Docs is currently advocating for actions that can stabilize healthcare systems today, putting them in better position for the future.

We can fix Canadian healthcare if we prioritize better patient experiences and healthy working environments.
Past priorities become current status quos.

I appreciated our conversation about including sig others/partners/family in events to broaden the community and support systems of physicians.

I was traumatized by responding to @DGlaucomflecken’s cardiac arrest & my interactions with the healthcare system during that time. I went to the Quiet Place (link in bio) and needed a bridge to walk out. These are the words that built my bridge. May they build one for others.

Yesterday my partner moved away to prepare for starting residency in a new city. I’m so proud of him to start the next phase of his training, but also heartbroken that we will be apart for the next 4 years. It’s so sad that medicine can tear people apart like this… 1/2
@allsyan Congratulations to you & your partner! Sending best wishes to both of you as you embark on this next stage of your journey. Long distance is tremendously difficult for many physician families in training. You are not alone, there is a community of partners here to support you.
