Rebecca Cheptegei is the third prominent distance runner to die from domestic violence in Kenya in just three years. Agnes Tirop, a Kenyan Olympic runner, was stabbed in her home in October 2021. Damaris Muthee was strangled and found dead in her boyfriend’s home.
