"The best friend of a nation is he who most faithfully rebukes her for her sins—and he her worst enemy who, under the specious… garb of patriotism seeks to excuse, palliate or defend them." - Frederick Douglass
Husted: "The president is coming in tomorrow again to Ohio. Don't worry, I was in the weight room this morning working out. I don't want to let him down."
@noahqk Strict GWP calculations miss all those very real non-linear effects. Which is fine as long as we understand that it tells an incomplete story. We don't make that story perfect by using 10 - 20 yr GWP, but we do make it more accurate.
Methane is 80x as potent a greenhouse gas as CO2. Dialing back these regulations is the ethics of a rapist. Give me short-term power and pleasure today in exchange for long-term pain for anyone weaker than me - in this case, future generations. https://t.co/kvUJTnRowk
@noahqk This is particularly urgent in light of falling particulate as coal use falls - at the COP in Sharm el-Sheik there was a rich discussion about the fact that - but for particulate - we had already overshot 1.5 - ergo, reducing CH4 became dramatically more urgent in the short term
I recently introduced the Integrated Local, Regional, and Interregional Transmission Planning Act, legislation that will make electricity more affordable and reliable by increasing access to less expensive electricity.
I spoke to students in Northwestern University’s Clean Energy Law Class about my legislation and answered questions about clean energy policy.

This is the kind of thing that gets you called into the Dean's office on Wednesday morning to confirm whether you are in fact responsible for all the prior night's health center visits. No one should drink this much.
legit some of the funniest drama happening right now. Whole election may be going to hell, war may be restarting, but Trump is dead set on this golf course renovation.
Anyway, if you hate gerrymandering, want to ensure we keep a great representative in Congress and/or just want to make Trump look bad, give Shomari some help in the homestretch: https://t.co/RsFyzGX2LM
AL not only gerrymandered to eliminate a minority seat but they delayed their primary only for the 2 Black seats and 2 adjacent seats so that they could box out Shomari. The fact that Trump is now trying to shore up Shomari’s opponent tells you how things are going for the @GOP
New Epstein report from the House Judiciary Committee and a reminder that Blanche and Trump are still withholding a TON of information that is almost certainly damning on them, and definitely not exculpatory. https://t.co/P7E1iWbJm3
Mr. Ambassador: if you are voting in an Israeli election, you are an Israeli. Regardless of religion. Regardless of ethnicity. For an American diplomat to suggest otherwise belies either ignorance of or hostility to that inherently democratic idea.
Today is election day in Israel, which is a national holiday. All voting is in person, ID required. No mail-in or absentee ballots. Arabs vote same as Israelis. Contentious process, but it's a democracy-not many of those in this region!
Last week, I joined Mayor Ryan, the Alsip Fire Department, and Alsip Police Department for the annual Project Fire Buddies community blood drive. Project Fire Buddies partners with fire departments across the country to bring joy to children struggling with illnesses.
Building a processing facility for a globally traded commodity that you don't produce in your community on the theory that it'll reduce the local price of said commodity is a good way to fail an Econ101 term paper. But it is no basis for an energy policy. https://t.co/Lmdn01KBtF
I might rank the risks a bit differently (climate risk and insurance risk are basically the same thing, for example), but totally agree with these potentially systemic shocks - many of which are being made worse by the Trump admin.
The Fed won’t raise interest rates again when it meets this week, and it shouldn’t. The economy is threatened by a growing list of risks, and a Fed misstep is one of them.
That’s the clear message in our risk matrix, which sizes up each risk by how likely it is to occur over the next 12 to 18 months and how much economic damage it would cause if it did. There’s a lot of red in the matrix, indicating risks that are becoming more likely or more severe.
