Consistency isn’t sexy… but it’s the #1 reason most dogs actually improve (or stay stuck). You can know every training technique in the book, but if you’re inconsistent, your dog stays confused and you stay frustrated. Here’s why consistency beats everything else in dog training 👇
Nervous dog? Build them a backyard confidence course 🐾
Nova's 5-step setup:
1. Hurdles
2. Tunnel
3. Walk the wall
4. Place
5. Nose work for small wins
Start easy, then make it a little harder each time.
Halloween is next week! If the doorbell sends your dog over the edge, set up a calm spot before trick-or-treaters arrive: a gate, crate, or back room with water and a good chew. Two minutes saves the whole night. Full step-by-step: https://t.co/tCKdikyzsu
Warm up with 10 quick reps of the cue before you head out, and if the leash goes tight toward wildlife, stop and wait for slack. Full step-by-step: https://t.co/LokM4PEIIy —Drew
Dog turns into a sled dog the second a squirrel or deer moves in the brush? Fall walks hit that dusk wildlife window. Catch the moment BEFORE the pull. 🍂🐾
When the ears go up or the body stiffens, say your 'look' cue once, turn and walk a few steps away at an angle, and reward the check-in. If your dog won't take a treat, you're too close, so add distance.
@NiallHarbison Frank's face says it all. Deaf dogs are some of the most tuned-in dogs I've worked with, they just watch you instead of listen. So glad he's eating again.
@Rainmaker1973 Living his best life 😎 If your dog rides along, start with short trips, a secure harness, and eye protection. Yawning or lip-licking means slow down. A happy rider looks loose and curious.
@Rainmaker1973 Senior dogs are so underrated. Calmer, already know what they like, and grateful for a soft bed and a slow walk. Give them a few weeks to settle in and they blossom.
@Rainmaker1973 Consistency built that bond. Same person, same food, same time every day. Dogs remember who shows up for them, and he's paying it back the only way he knows how ❤️
@Rainmaker1973 Dogs make great teachers. Animals learn a ton just by watching, so a calm, confident dog can show a new pet the ropes faster than we can 😄
