Attended the 5th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting of the African Union at which H.E. Dr @WilliamsRuto hosted African Heads of State at the United Nations office in Gigiri, Nairobi.

The meeting provided an ideal platform to rally African states and populations to support a Pan-African movement focused on building a more integrated, prosperous and stable continent.

I am proud of the increasingly pivotal role that Kenya, under the leadership of President Ruto, is playing in influencing the development agenda of this continent and shaping discourse around key issues that concern the African people.

Had a meeting with H.E. @NikhilSethUN, the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General and Executive Director, United Nations Institiute for Training and Research (UNITAR) at the UN offices in Geneva, Switzerland.

As a dedicated training arm of the United Nations, UNITAR is a key partner of legislatures in the country – both Parliament of Kenya and County Assemblies - in equipping them with skills to spearhead attainment of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and help our nation overcome emerging global challenges, including Climate Change.

We agreed on the formulation of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Parliament of Kenya and UNITAR for capacity building of the Kenyan legislature, especially its committees, and the Speakers of County Assemblies for effective discharge of their work of legislation, oversight and representation.
