@bigD_oil @MarshallHall7 Out of curiosity what’s the concern with mechanical hold downs, only issue I’ve seen is that they’re not universal so if you change you pump vendor it might not match the seat nipple. Never really understood why they haven’t been adopted more over the cup style

@impetro9 @MarshallHall7 Not saying that’s what it is, and could also be H2S but the presence of oxygen can accelerate corrosion and it tends to get introduced from surface. Not something I’m super familiar with either but have had a failure or two related.

Here are examples of Oxygen-Enhanced Corrosion on couplings. The cplg on the left is an ex. of 02 enhanced CO2 acid gas corrosion. The slimhole coupling in the middle and the fullsize coupling on the right are examples of the effects of 02 enhanced H2S acid gas corrosion.

@MarshallHall7 @impetro9 Oxygen corrosion can be really aggressive like this and predominantly near surface, if it’s confined to near surface you might want to replace casing wing valve and add a casing check valve (not seeing one)

Honestly, while the double y-axis made sense when I first built this chart, it now really undersells just how WILD the decoupling has been between the price of steel pipe used in the oil & gas industry and the rest of the broader steel complex.
