5) Speed: This quality is the toughest to train and is largely influenced by genetics. Optimal development of speed relies on all of the aforementioned physical qualities in combination with technical proficiency attained through coaching and repetitive movement skill practice.
Our 'Train Like A Professional Athlete' pyramid is adopted from strength coach Al Vermeil. His “Hierarchy of Athletic Development” has been recognized and utilized by S&C professionals around the world, and they provide us with a framework for training our athletes and general population clients to reach greater performance. However, we have minds and experiences of our own, and we believe that we can continually improve the model. Here is our version:
4) Reactive Strength: This quality is all about the stretch shortening cycle and the ability to generate force during high-speed movements. Think bounding, skipping, multiple jumps, or sprinting 10-20 yards.
3) Explosive strength: This is the first quality where we are adding a velocity component during exercise selection and execution. Power = Force X distance divided by time. Being time that is now a factor, athletes have to perform exercises at higher velocities compared to strength type exercises.
2) Strength is the mother of all qualities, and typically the missing link for most people who walk in our doors. We develop strength in the entire body by improving the ability to produce force in the 1-5 reps range, we are laying another layer to our foundation that will help us improve the qualities above and below it. We also improve joint stability, soft tissues, deceleration, change of direction capabilities, and injury prevention.
⁃Functional hypertrophy is the perfect blend of strength and hypertrophy. The typical rep range for structural balance and hypertrophy is 8+ reps, while strength is typically trained from 1-5 reps. Functional hypertrophy bridges the gap between these two with the rep range of 6-8 reps.
In short:
1) Our mental focus and structural balance set the foundation for which each progressive quality can be built upon. We can’t make you want something for yourself. But we do strive to create an environment that inspires the mental side of the process. This is why we believe in great equipment, a clean, organized facility, and a community that cheers each other on.

Big personal best getting over 21MPH
Hell of a way to end a training phase!
Using Agonist/Antagonist Supersets on your training is one of the simplest ways to maximize efficiency and results in the gym.
- More time efficient
- Greater training density & quality work performed
- Increased muscle fiber recruitment
- Improved work capacities & body comp
@Buck Reminded me of an unbelievable experience you provided to my boy and I, Joe. Made these eyes water. My favorite part is when the young man was too excited to look up, but finally did.
Jeremy Reaves played at South Alabama.
He went undrafted in 2018, and eventually signed with the Eagles.
He has been a final roster cut each of the last four season, but finally made Washington’s 53-man roster this year.
And now he’s in the Pro Bowl 🙏
Hamstring injuries are super common
While not 100% preventable, there are some action steps you can take to reduce risk (and hopefully prevent)
• Sprint first, Lift second
• Sprint fresh, fast, and often
• Train all lengths
• Train all actions
• Be smart
