Lionel Messi says farewell to the 2026 World Cup 🥺
You assume people will act fairly if you act fairly. They won’t. People act in alignment with their incentives, not your expectations. If the structure rewards selfishness, selfishness appears.
Imam Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) said:
“Do not be deceived by being in a righteous place, for there is no place more excellent than Paradise, yet Adam experienced there what he experienced.
Do not be deceived by abundant worship, for Iblīs, after a long period of worship, met the fate that he met.
Do not be deceived by abundant knowledge, for Balʿam ibn Bāʿūrā met the fate that he met, despite knowing the Greatest Name of Allah.
And do not be deceived by meeting the righteous and seeing them, for there is no person more righteous than the Prophet ﷺ, yet his enemies and the hypocrites derived no benefit from meeting him.”
