Had the chance to spend a week at @HooverInst and saw this in their archive: #NATO force structure and naval capabilties for defense of Europe in 1983. This was achieved at 4,5% of GDP for defense on average (US spending was over 6%).

A strong demonstration of Allied defence capability and readiness to act today. A drone entering Estonian airspace was detected quickly and shot down over Southern Estonia by a NATO Air Policing fighter jet.

My sincere thanks to our NATO allies, the Romanian Air Force and the fighter pilots who carried out this mission with professionalism and precision.

Estonia’s airspace is protected. NATO is vigilant, prepared and capable of acting rapidly when needed.
