In 2006, the Iraq War was already 3 years old and had become so unpopular that it led to a 30-seat pick up by the House Dems in the 2006 midterms and Nancy Pelosi becoming the first-ever female Speaker.
After just 4 months, Trump's Iran War is already vastly more unpopular.
This is false and ridiculous.
This propaganda spread by the US government (which supports actual dictatorships around the world) has been widely regurgitated by the corporate media.
But they are all taking out of context comments made by Nicaragua's Co-President Daniel Ortega.
Below I have posted a screenshot of the official transcript of the speech given by Ortega on 19 July 2026, alongside my translation. (This is link to the official transcript: https://t.co/9x3oIbipC4)
The full context clearly shows that Ortega was discussing the history of US interference in Nicaragua, and how the US government funds right-wing political parties to try to overthrow the Sandinista Front. (This should not come as a surprise to anyone who knows the basic history of Nicaragua and the CIA's Contra terror war in the 1980s.)
In 2018, the US government sponsored a very violent coup attempt in Nicaragua, which was extremely traumatic for the population.
Ortega was saying that "there will be no more elections" for these coup-plotting right-wing political parties that are funded by the US government.
Nicaragua is defending its sovereignty and preventing the US empire from installing another puppet regime like the corrupt Somoza dictatorship, which Washington propped up for decades, on the corpses of countless Nicaraguans.
The US empire has invaded Nicaragua multiple times, militarily occupied the country, waged a terror war, imposed sanctions, funded the opposition, and meddled nonstop in its elections. The Sandinista government is saying that that history of foreign interference is over. No more.
In 2009, @VanJones68 was forced to "resign" from the Obama Admin after 6 months because Fox News and establishment Democrats denounced him as "the radical left": due to his prior support in the 1990s for Mumia Abu-Jamal, calling a GOP member an "asshole," allegedly signing a petition suggesting Bush did 9/11, etc. His glaring, oozing career ambitions lay in ruins as he was kicked out of decent DC power centers for transgressing too many ideological lines and comportmental rules.
That's when he realized that wealth and celebrity awaited him only if he were willing instead to transform himself into a vehement defender and guard of establishment dogma, a useful tool for those who had just struck him down.
So that's exactly what he did. He renounced his prior "radical" views, repeatedly apologized for his transgressions, became a stalwart, weepy advocate of deary DC media conventional wisdom, and began playing the new TV character his script required: the moderate, sensible liberal who just wants to bring everyone together in the safe, status-quo-perpetuating middle.
His real function: to begin every sentence with "I'm a progressive Democratic" -- the subtext: a black progressive Democrat! -- and then denounce the populist left (and populist right) for crossing the political and ideological lines that he was told to vigorously police and uphold: the lines which nobody is permitted to cross without being denounced and excluded the way he once was. "Look: they're too extreme even for Van Jones!" He was there to protect his establishment bosses by punishing the excesses of the "extremes on both sides": just as he had once been punished by them almost to the point of career destruction.
His service as the "black progressive policeman" for the DC establishment and its dual religious planks of corporatism and militarism were predictably very valuable to them, and very lucrative for him. He got larger and larger CNN contracts. Jeff Bezos gave him $100 million to hand out however he wanted. Jay-Z hired him to lead a new group, etc. etc. Book deals from large NYC publishing houses flowed in, etc. etc.
Since October, 2023, he saw the real opening, one that would catapult him upward even further into the top echelons of establishment servitude: turn himself into the most devoted "liberal media" loyalist to Israel, the most militant defender of Tel Aviv's reputation, as global support for that country collapsed. He dutifully wore his little yellow ribbon pin every day for years on TV as if it were tattooed onto him. He cackled with Bill Maher about how annoying it is to keep hearing all this whining about "dead babies in Gaza." With his patented fake TV tears in his eyes, he heralded Israel as our great ally, and talked about how worried he was for his beloved Jewish friends as anti-Semitism grew on the left and right.
Now he's here to boast that "leaders in both parties" called him this week to profusely thank him for his service to the bipartisan DC agenda. The once-wannabe radical has fully transformed into a prime media instrument for the establishment that once threatened to destroy him. Both parties are now grateful to him for defending their prerogatives and positions.
One thing is for sure: other than Jake Tapper and Dana Bash, nobody's future is brighter at CNN once Larry Ellison's son buys up Warner Brothers and CNN and puts Bari Weiss in charge with the sole mandate to turn the network into an even more vigorous Israeli propaganda network than CBS News has become.
A months-long Sky News investigation into the US double-tap strike on a Minab girls' school found the Pentagon had tracked the site by satellite since 1987 and could still count children's shadows in the courtyard before firing anyway.
What the evidence shows:
Three Tomahawk missiles fired from the USS Spruance, 716 kilometers away in the Arabian Sea, hit the Shajareh Tayyebeh Elementary School in Minab on Feb 28, the opening day of the US-Israeli war on Iran. Witnesses described a second strike hitting the exact spot where a teacher had moved surviving students for shelter, killing nearly everyone who had taken cover there. A third strike followed on the same site. Death tolls range from 156 to over 170, most of them girls aged seven to twelve. The school had been walled off from the adjacent IRGC naval base since at least 2015, had its own website, and was geolocatable through open-source materials any analyst could have pulled in minutes.
Built to fail:
The Pentagon's own machinery for preventing exactly this outcome had already been dismantled. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth slashed the Civilian Protection Center of Excellence workforce by roughly 90 percent and cut CENTCOM's civilian casualty assessment team from ten people to one, months before the war started. A May Pentagon Inspector General report found the office had become a shell on paper with no budget, no mandate, no real mission. A functioning warning system was defunded on purpose, then blamed for not warning anyone.
Accountability buried:
Four months on, CENTCOM's commander told reporters the investigation was near complete, yet nothing has been released. Asked in June whether anyone would face consequences, Trump called it a strange question, adding that mistakes are made and war is nasty. The mistake was choosing not to fund the office that exists to catch mistakes like this one.
My take: A military that surveilled a schoolyard for four decades didn't fail to see the children, it decided in advance that seeing them wouldn't change the targeting. Nobody in this chain lacked information.
@wilding_gyres Bruh should have just left it at "why do we hate China", because clearly he has no real information, no data other than propagandistic talking points. 🤣🤣😂😂 #InnercityLeft
@RepThomasMassie Like most Americans, i don't believe in Democrats or Republicans anymore (or Santa or the tooth fairy) We need at least two more parties, a real left party, a real right political party, but I must say I respect the fuck out of your last several years of service. #InnercityLeft
Obama was instrumental in me (A Black man) learning the difference between an African in America and a Black person. Our cultures can be compatible but they are absolutely not identical, our motivations are certainly not the same. #InnercityLeft
I have to say tho black people don’t like Obama because he did imperialism. Black people (not me) like Obama because he was a black man that accomplished a feat everyone thought impossible (being president of America) let’s be clear.
He is Joe "Cognitive Infiltrator" Kent proposing killing Iranians for defending themselves against US aggression launched against them inside their own borders by the US whose troops and bases are closer to Iran than America's own shores...
The US has no business in West Asia at all - let alone "negotiating" with Iran regarding ANYTHING.
Cognitive infiltration involves people repeating popular opposition narratives to win over people who otherwise reject official narratives - then they slowly re-inject establishment talking points to get otherwise awake people to go back to sleep.
Joe Kent pretends to be against war on Iran, but here he is reinforcing the notion the US has some sort of right to strike back. to dictate matters in West Asia, and "negotiate" with Iran.
Cognitive infiltration in its current form is an institutionalized form of public perception management introduced at least as early as the Obama administration - specifically targeting what is considered "alternative media" and its audience.
@BrianJBerletic is perhaps the most sober voice in geopolitics today. Astute analysis, rejects baseless sensationalism and limits assumption. A must follow. #InnercityLeft
like I said, Iran didn't "win," it survived, and that is what it will need to continue to do.
The US also continues to wage war on Russia while Russia is only able to strike back at America's disposable proxies.
The US is creating the same situation in the Asia-Pacific in hopes of targeting China in a similar war.
The US cannot match multipolarism - it knows this - what it is in the process of doing is flipping the game board over.
Multipolarism will need to weather this process - building faster than the US can destroy everything.
What Ro Khanna knows, but cannot say:
Palestinians have a right - in international law - to armed resistance against Isra*li occupation.
Palestinians have a moral RESPONSIBILITY to resist their occupation- period.
Democrats are imperialists. And yes, that includes DSA.
bell hooks' close relationship with Agent Steinem (and thus the CIA) is a big reason she's read so widely today and seen as an authoritative voice on Black masculinity. the CIA is adept at creating and funding the 'compatible left'. https://t.co/kymoLjA8w6
The CIA utilized MKUltra and its 150 sub-projects
To test the psychological boundaries of mind control and cognitive behavioral modification
Specifically targeting black american men incarcerated inside federal prisons
Federal prisons have always served as the best laboratory for cognitive behavioral modification experiments
During the peak of the War on Drugs, black american men made up nearly 50% of the federal prison population
Today, black american men make up 35% - 40% of the federal prison population
Millions of black american men have reentered society, having completed the BOPs cognitive behavioral modification protocol
