Just watching the news. I’ve circulated the world non-stop for over 40 years and met people I like, admire, trust, respect, adore, and love. Others I dislike, mistrust, and don’t respect. Gender, nationality, ethnicity, religion, or sexuality, or for that matter education and profession, are never the defining factor either way. We are endlessly privileged and responsible to live on the only known inhabited planet of billions in the endless galaxies, why do we threaten, hurt, maim, and kill each other? Live and let live I would say, realising it’s totally wishful thinking.
As you watch the Aurora this evening, it’s worth reflecting that you’re getting a rare direct glimpse of the power of Nature. Those charged particles causing the atmosphere to glow came from a sunspot complex 17 times the diameter of Earth and traveled across 90 million miles at a million miles an hour. Without our magnetic field to protect us, our atmosphere would have been lost to space long ago. Those colours in the sky are Nature reminding us that we’re very lucky to be here amidst the violence. And perhaps therefore also reminding us not to shite it all up :-)
Formula 1 is the latest sport to show that they are incapable of handling allegations of sexual harassment. At the centre of this all is a victim who alleges she was the subject of sexual harassment by her boss, CEO, & team principal of Redbull racing, Christian Horner. 1/12
It's great that we have modern centers like the Millenium centre & stadium, BBC building etc.
But..
If farmers must use 10% of land with trees & habitats for SFS funds, there should also be a requirement in urban areas, rather than excessively bland grey concrete fields.
Not a single woman has represented a team on the podium this season. How are we meant to be inspiring the next generation if they can’t see it?

"The Pied Piper of Britishness marched us all down to the river, and left us there"
@michaelsheen in crystalline, excoriating form.
We need more oratory like this.
We need reminding of the perniciousness of Westminster’s absolute dominion.
@PippaCrerar@CatNeilan@Gabriel_Pogrund Britain had it all, man.
A strong Pound, a seat at the table in Europe, a Special Relationship with the US, global respect and standing.
Tories flushed it all away, courting UKIP/BNP policies to keep power.
And it wrecked Britain.
Just cause I told the story to a mate last night who didn't know/couldn't believe it. Here's the broad strokes why you might see #CofiwchDryweryn this week.
65 years ago parliament approved the flooding of the Tryweryn Valley to provide water for a bit of Liverpool. (1/5)
I never liked @AndrewMarr9 before...
But this - THIS - on the government’s Rwanda policy is absolutely on fire - and I’m now viewing Marr in a different light.
Priti Patel said it was a “slur” when I told her she lacked compassion, and called for me withdraw it.
I didn't and I won't: I was already being too polite.
Look how this lovebird strips the leaves removing each midvein to tuck amongst its feathers for safe keeping...
rather than taking each piece home separately, this is a more efficient way of gathering and transporting nest building material
@BBCArchive the absolute tragedy is that under today's Tory govt not a single child would have been permitted to be rescued and in fact Sir Nicholas Winton would have been prosecuted for assisting refugees.
