As the Ol Kalou by-election draws near, all election stakeholders have a responsibility to uphold the rule of law and protect the integrity of our electoral process.

The misuse of public resources, voter bribery, unlawful campaign expenditure, the use of government projects to influence voters, and intimidation are all election offences. These unlawful acts undermine the principles of free, fair, and credible elections and are liable to prosecution under the law.

They distort the will of the people, erode public trust, and weaken democratic institutions. Democracy cannot be bought, coerced, or manipulated. It must be upheld through a transparent, peaceful, and lawful electoral process.

Let us reject electoral malpractice and safeguard the credibility and integrity of our elections.

Today, ELOG convenes a Technical Validation Workshop for the Electoral Duty Bearers Reform Scorecard, bringing together members of the CSOs Technical Working Group on Elections to strengthen tools for monitoring electoral reforms and accountability.

🎙️ On Sounding Justice with @MtaaniRadio Radio, our National Coordinator Mulle Musau unpacked why electoral inclusion isn’t complete until Persons with Disabilities can participate fully and freely from registration to the ballot box.

The conversation dug into the real barriers PWDs face in Kenya’s electoral process: inaccessible polling stations, information gaps, and the need for assistive tools that protect the secrecy of the vote. Musau highlighted ELOG’s continued push for electoral bodies and stakeholders to build systems that work for everyone, not just the majority.

Because a democracy is only as strong as its most inclusive processes.

We joined the conversation on “Institutionalizing the Wind of Change: Building an Inclusive Democracy” a two-day convening hosted by the Trust for Indigenous Culture and Health (TICAH), bringing together youth leaders, women’s rights groups, civil society, academics, reform-minded politicians, and community organizers to chart Kenya’s path forward.

From Nigeria’s #EndSARS to Kenya’s Gen Z-led protests, young people have shown they will not accept governance that ignores lived realities. Today, that energy moved beyond the streets into strategy, solidarity, and the harder work of building lasting structures of accountability.

We reflected on:
🔹 Lessons from the Gen Z protests and global youth movements
🔹 The link between political participation, bodily autonomy, and economic justice
🔹 Electoral reforms ahead of 2027 and whether they address the systemic barriers keeping people out of public life
🔹 What it will take for youth, women, and civil society to work together without duplication or silos

Our program coordinator, Marcus Ageng'a , led the session on “Elections and Governance” for the Election Observation Group (ELOG) unpacking the electoral reforms on the table and asking the harder question: do they actually reach the structural issues (poverty, exclusion, weak institutions) that determine who gets to participate in public life, or just the mechanics of the vote itself?
