In 2025 we started the Lally Leadership Awards giving out $5,000 at each home football game to a student group raising money for local charities. This year, we are excited to announce that the student-run team behind 🍊Otto the Orange🍊, has been selected as the year-long recipient of The Lally Foundation’s Leadership Award!
Otto will receive $5,000 for each of SU football’s six home games for a total of $30,000!

Team Otto will use the award to purchase Otto plushies, Syracuse hats and other SU swag  from Manny’s on Marshall Street for children at Upstate Golisano Children’s Hospital. Before every football home game, Otto will visit the hospital in the Otto Mobile to deliver another round of toys, hugs and Orange spirit to pediatric patients and their families. The initiative will kick off this Thursday, September 3, when Otto arrives at Golisano in the new Otto Mobile with Coach Fran Brown 🍊who will help Otto distribute gifts before the home opener at the JMA Wireless Dome.

Golisano Pediatrics unit conducts almost 100 surgeries a week so the Otto plushies and other Otto themed gifts will provide comfort for kids during their stay and beyond. Our Ottos bring extraordinary energy and joy to Syracuse and their impact extends far beyond game day 🍊Please join us in giving a big orange hug to the Ottos for their kindness and their desire to spread TLC to children and families in CNY! 🧡

Last home game of the season and we want to celebrate our students and fellow fans!

This year we launched the Lally Leadership Award 🍊presenting students organizations with $5,000-$10,000 per home game toward their philanthropic community efforts. On Saturday we presented 2 $5k awards to Lambda Chi Alpha & Delta Sigma Pi (with Whitman School). In total this season we awarded over $35,000 to our student charities for their leadership efforts on and off campus. Thank you for all that you do for the Syracuse Community!

On Saturday in honor of MOvember we packed the Lally Zone with our guests from Associated Medical Professional Urology and Radiology Center in CNY. AMP is a center of excellence for Men’s health tackling the leading causes of disease and death for men in our community. Thank you for offering excellent care for all the men in our lives !

This season the Lally Foundation funded “Ottos Lotto” in the 3rd Quarter giving out hundreds of gift certificates for students who came to the games and cheered their hearts out for our players and their fellow student athletes.

Saturday we recognized one special fan section with the Lally Super Fan in the 4th 🍊 presenting a $1,000 gift certificate to the Orange Crate! Section 129 is at EVERY game bringing the energy supporting our players and our team (especially our Senior Athletes). This group of Orange faithful even brings their brand of excitement to other sports creating a swell of support!
