Elections in Sweden on Sunday. A party is rising, whose least scary part is that they want to restrict science to fit their political views. If you are a visiting scientist you can likely vote in the local elections. Please use your right to vote.
Terrific work by my student @GijsZonderland summarising many years of failed hypotheses, eureka moments and shared sweat and excitement. Very proud of this work, hope you all fellas find it interesting. @ERC_Research
Pic by @BenjMurrell . Although I was running like crazy only my left foot came in this picture. Maybe the direction of running is more important than the speed.
This we should have more of at meetings. Football scheduled at Sweprot that just finished in Tällberg. Team divisions became by research methods: Chrystallographers vs the rest.
In lab journal club: impressive sensor of Chk1 that clearly shows activation in S and re-activation in many cells in G2 after replication stress. Very nice @GAVETLab
Our recent paper is just out in @Dev_Cell . Monitoring Chk1 dynamics in live cells shows that upon replication stress, Chk1 can reactivate in G2 phase preventing mitosis. G2 Chk1 signaling can be overridden but translates to G1 arrest in daughter cells.

We are very, very, very happy to see Simon’s paper published today. Thanks to all the collaborators and the multiple discussions with many friends and colleagues. Thanks to ERC, CNRS and Institut Curie for funding..
After a year delay, registration is open for the EMBO workshop on DNA Damage Response in Cell Physiology and Disease in Cape Sounio. We look forward seeing you there!!! https://t.co/u9WYW5QmAb
Prizes come from The Swedish Society for Biochemistry, Biophysics and Molecular Biology ( with the very catchy abbreviation SFBBM)
