NLIHC’s 50th anniversary celebrates the organization’s history, achievements, and partners, while renewing our commitment to achieving housing justice! #NLIHC50
Such a pleasure to represent @NLIHC on a panel about envisioning a world without homelessness today with @RepRitchie, @SteveShnny and my new friend @robrobinsontbtl at the @theNetworkNY’s #NetConf23

With an affordable home, families can climb the economic ladder and kids can do better in school. #CutsHurt kids and punish low-income families. Expand rather than slash this critical funding! @RepPatRyanNY@gillibrandny@SenSchumer
In @SenateFinance hearing today, Chairman Wyden says “unless I’m missing something, the inability of middle income people to afford rent is a big and growing problem”. Yes, you are missing something, Senator @RonWyden.
Don’t create a wasteful new subsidy. Eliminate restrictive local zoning to allow developers to build more market rate housing. Target scarce federal $ to build/make apartments affordable to ELI households whom the market can’t serve without subsidy.
VICTORY! The Kingston Rent Guidelines Board just made history by becoming the first locality in New York to REDUCE rents for rent-stabilized properties.
The Board voted 6-3 for a 15% rent reduction 🎉
🧵Voters turned out to support affordable housing yesterday! @NLIHC is tracking nearly 100 affordable housing ballot measures advanced by our state and local partners - here’s what we know so far:
DCA was excited to participate in @HCDNNJ’s conference! Dir. Dean Dafis & fellow panelists shared info on the implementation of state & federal Emergency Rental Assistance programs & the impact it has had on landlords, tenants, & eviction prevention, & new strategies learned.
The #Under1RoofNJ afternoon plenary session, "Advancing Racial Equity Starts at Home: Building a Diverse & Inclusive Community Development Sector," with ESO Advisors' Craig Sawyer, Michael Neal of @urbaninstitute, @LindsayJDuvall of @NLIHC, & @NewJerseyEDA's Tai Cooper. #HouseNJ
Housing advocates urge Congress to invest $150 billion in affordable homes by passing the #BuildBackBetter reconciliation bill!
The bill would fund:
✔️Rental assistance
✔️Public housing
✔️Housing Trust Fund
✔️1st gen homeowner down payment assistance, the HOME program, & more
The affordable housing shortage is making it harder to help Ohioans escape homelessness, but we can fix this problem.
@SenSherrodBrown we appreciate your leadership for supporting targeted housing investments in the #Reconciliation package!

#DYK The Housing Trust Fund investments in #BuildBackBetter Act would create or preserve 150,000
homes for people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Congress must include these investments in any #Reconciliation package! https://t.co/rqb8fDNHBQ #hoUSed@NLIHC
Major investments in affordable housing are at stake! @SenSchumer The $150B+ proposed for affordable housing in #BuildBackBetter is monumental! This is an opportunity to fix generational housing insecurity and infrastructure issues.
Housing investments in a #Reconciliation package can keep the lowest-income Americans stably housed. Investments in rental assistance, public housing, & the Housing Trust Fund will help bring down the cost of housing. #HousingInvestmentsNow@SenSchumer@SenGillibrand
