Today in Aspen we talked about the importance of staging bilateral focused ultrasound lesions in the GPi for treatment of Parkinson's. It just received FDA approval and the data published in @NEJM. Remember to use multidisciplinary screening, discuss risks and benefits, and be careful with the second lesion. Neurosurgeons are leading the way in teaching us where and how (smaller) to make the second lesion to avoid the historical bilateral pallidotomy side effects we all fear. Nice discussion in Aspen today. @ParkinsonDotOrg@movedisorder #Parkinsons
In late summer/early fall of 2019, Dr. Cosgrove and the focused ultrasound team at @BrighamWomens treated an #artist with Essential Tremor. Recently, Dr. Cosgrove received this beautiful painting from that patient who was able to return to his passion.

I found this article helpful to start brainstorming how my neuro PhD could be applied outside of academia.
Today marks my first day as a Clinical Application Specialist @INSIGHTEC! I’ll be using MRI-guided focused ultrasound to treat Essential Tremor and Tremor-Dominant Parkinson’s Disease with an incredible team of people and I could not be happier. #incisionlesssurgery
Yesterday would have been my PhD graduation. Even though I didn’t get the formal ceremony I hoped for, I celebrated all day in my makeshift tam and gown anyway. 🤓🧠

'It's great news.'
This is significant - it also reduces the chance of the feared second wave.
