A young, supremely confident and nattily dressed Roberto Duran pictured #OnThisDay in 1972 as he predicts he's going to stop WBA lightweight king Ken Buchanan in nine rounds in their title clash later that month. The pair had just signed to fight at Madison Square Garden in New York on June 26. "Manos de Piedra" would take the crown via a Round 13 TKO, the fight ending controversially when a low blow thudded into Buchanan's testicles.

Max Schmeling won the vacant world heavyweight title #OnThisDay in 1930 when Jack Sharkey was disqualified for a low blow in Round 4 of their fight at Yankee Stadium in New York. A crowd of almost 80,000 saw Schmeling become the first man to bag the heavyweight crown via a foul. Dr. William Walker, of the New York State Athletic Commission, examined Schmeling after the fight and commented: "There is a distinct indication of a spasm of the left scrotum, indicating a recent blow in that region."
