1. 1. I am thrilled to announce that I’ll be starting my lab (https://t.co/JSAE2zs1KT) @MIT_Picower@mitbrainandcog@MIT in Jan 2024! We will be innovating high-precision all-optical technologies and making discoveries of brain mechanisms that give rise to learning and memory.
Honored to join the Sloan fellow community. Big thanks to my mentors, @MIT_Picower, and my lab for the support. We are recruiting new team members to join us: https://t.co/ccqAvAx85m Please reach out if you are interested in all-optical physiology, plasticity, or learning/memory.
Congratulations @LinlinZFan, a new @SloanFoundation research fellow! Fan uses innovative optical tools to investigate how connections change among neurons during memory formation. The fellowship will help her give the technology a big upgrade https://t.co/Fbk5HOqcI2 #Neuroscience
Congratulations to our Human Neural Circuitry team; https://t.co/aGD7OacNs8 publishes today in Science! This was the hardest challenge of my career, but one of the most rewarding, after years of rebuilding– & for myself, expanding my inpatient neuropsychiatry work to the service of basic discovery:

I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with the amazing lead authors Isaac Kauvar @ikauvar, Ethan Richman, and Tony Liu @liutony66, and with equally brilliant faculty colleagues in our HNC program: Carolyn Rodriguez @CRodriguezMDPhD, Paul Nuyujukian, and Vivek Buch @VivekBuchMD, along with many other key collaborators spanning hospital and laboratory. https://t.co/qohlvNuQYF
And it’s out! Our lab’s very first paper is published today @naturemethods!
Our calcium-activated split-TurboID (CaST) can biochemically tag activated neurons within 10 minutes, enabling a molecular handle on functionally relevant cell ensembles: https://t.co/756cfr1zkw
1/3 Exciting News! We're hiring at all levels immediately for our lab @UUNeurobiology Join us in cutting-edge research at the intersection of neuroscience and chemical biology! We aim to explore how neuropeptides modulate behavior and physiology.
Pls RT!
Had a blast at #MMiN catching up with old friends @iaahmed123 & @LinlinZFan, and meeting new ones @julieta__lis. Both Linlin and Julieta started new labs at MIT and NIH - check them out if you’re looking for exciting labs with amazing mentors! (and @iaahmed123 soon to follow 😛)
Excited to co-chair this symposium with @tinakim_neuro at #MMIN2024
We will survey cutting-edge approaches to monitoring and manipulating neural activity from some of the field's rising stars!
🚨We've now extended our early bird registration deadline until April 15th!! 🚨
Register and submit your abstracts before then for:
- Early bird pricing
- Travel award applications
- Short talk submissions
- Poster submissions
congratulations @LinlinZFan & team... tracking natural *inhibitory* synaptic plasticity in mammals! w/ the very same designed-opsin pair that we had generated earlier to track *excitatory* plasticity in behaving mice (our structure-guided channelrhodopsin bC1C2TG & QuasAr6a) https://t.co/Y1IKSouyAz
Excited to share our new work @ScienceMagazine-we demonstrated all-optical interrogation of inhibitory synaptic transmission and plasticity during behavior! Kudos to our wonderful collaborators @BarnaDudok, @SolteszLab, and of course, my amazing mentor and advisor @KarlDeisseroth
DSI is a form of synaptic plasticity mediated by endocannabinoids (eCBs). With @LinlinZFan, we demonstrated in vivo that place cell activity triggers eCB signals affecting GABAergic inputs; and that cannabinoid receptors modulate place cell tuning.
