Thanks to RI Family Literacy Initiative & the @TalktoWPL Citizenship Class for coming to Lippitt House Museum to explore the Lippitt's legacy of civic engagement and voting rights history. We are proud to partner with #EnglishLanguageLearners#ESOL programs!
It’s Veterans’ Day and a perfect time to remember Janet Hunter (Chafee) Cushman, a descendent of Gov. Lippitt, who served as a lieutenant in U.S. Navy in WWII. A codebreaker stationed in Pearl Harbor, Jan left a legacy of honorable service. #veteransday22

Today is #NationalVoterRegistrationDay!
A reminder that the deadline to register is October 9th - only twenty days away, and the general election is Tuesday, November 8th. Mark your calendars - it's important!
@cklibanoff That's a good one!
We use our social media to count down to election days, to encourage voter registration, and to provide links to important information RI voters need. We consider it a duty to promote civic engagement! #AskAMuseum
@MockPhoebe @AskAMuseum @ArtHistoryElon Very thoughtful! Describing house elements with care for the visually impaired is a great idea. We do provide a table of objects that visitors can hold and operate that help illustrate life and work during the Lippitt’s time. Our guests love learning how heavy an iron really was!
@MockPhoebe @AskAMuseum @ArtHistoryElon Here at Lippitt House Museum we’ve taken steps to include those who are deaf or experiencing hearing loss. The Lippitt family helped found the Rhode Island School for the Deaf, still in operation today. #AskAMuseum
