Los Angeles has always been dry. It has always had strong Santa Ana winds. It has always had a problem handling heavy rain, and in keeping hillsides from turning to mud. It has always had earthquakes.

But to not do everything possible to mitigate the degree of damage when those events occur is to naively assume they're never occur again. That's like someone never buying insurance because they assume it won't ever be necessary. Or never getting any kind of vaccine, because they don't think they're going to "catch it." We get insurance because events might occur. We get vaccinated because we might catch it. In both cases, our preparation reduces the blow when the events actually land on us.

Karen Bass @MayorOfLA and @GavinNewsom idea of preparation was to just cross their fingers that no event ever befell CA and LA. That is not leadership. That is not even basic management. That is irresponsibility and childishness.

They are both complete failures and should be removed from office, so that adults can take care of this city and state.
