Our internal data shows Claude is accelerating AI development—a possible path to recursive self-improvement, or AI autonomously building a more capable successor.
It’s happening faster than we thought, and the implications deserve greater attention. https://t.co/OVVPJO7VQx
Interesting. Have been running into this problem for long running autonomous tasks. I wonder if this is also why they for some reason broke the auto-compaction feature...
Anyone else running into this as of late?
@laurencebuilds Im building for browser automation that pushes for an agent ergonomic + human comfortable future of interfacing with the web. It starts with the tool agents use to wrangle with the web.

Been having major issues with having Opus 4.8 halting on autonomous tasks when instructed to run in a continuous loop (don’t ask why).
Has anyone else encountered these kinds of problems with 4.8 finding any excuse to stop an autonomous task?
> be Anthropic:
> lure in public w/ strongest reasoning + coding models for pennies on the dollar
> release claude code
> kills 1-10 startups a week with every new feature release across its products
> reject DoD’s demands for autonomous weapons + mass surveillance use
> win over the public = greater market share
> claude spring break w/ 1m context + fast mode
> “accidentally" leak the greatest hacking model to date
> kill Openclaw usage
> tighten subscription usage + enterprise usage even harder
> require KYC to even have basic access to their platform just to even compete
This is textbook example of vendor lock-in at the consumer level
just to stay competitive with everyone you need to:
- handover government ID
- juice out the max tier
- pray you aren’t squeezed by the rate limits
