The next issue of the Liquid Weekly Newsletter is out!

Charles Swayne is 21 and builds Shopify apps with AI agents, from scaffolding to shipping.

He walked me through his actual workflow on the new Liquid Weekly podcast. Less “AI is the future,” more how he gets real output in his work at @jade_puma

You'll find that and a lot more Shopify Developer goodness at

Shopify Academy closes October 29, and certifications will no longer count toward Partner Program tiers.

Existing badges stay valid through January 2028, and paid exams get refunded automatically.

Shopify's theme performance best practices answer the same three questions on every page: why it matters, how to build it, and how to check that it worked.

Worth a bookmark even if you never plan to submit a theme.

It leads off Liquid Weekly 251: https://t.co/BThtEobJBk

Issue 250 is out!

Tobi announced Shop Pay checkout inside Muse, on every Shopify store. The same week, Lovable shipped an integration for building storefronts by chatting with AI.

Generating the store and closing the sale, both ends of the job.

The next issue if Liquid Weekly is out!

Taylor is heading to India for his first time, and before he goes, Prakhar Shrivastava of FoxSell sat down with us to get him ready.

The full episode is in this week's Liquid Weekly, along with:

• ChatGPT Ads going live for Shopify, pulling straight from Shopify Catalog
• The Shopify admin's new look and what it means for apps
• Shopify CLI 4.8 creating dev stores from the terminal

Episode 75 is out!

@PrakharS96 of @FoxSellapp on India's Shopify ecosystem and Shop Quest, which happens October 3 in Bengaluru.

Issue 248 of Liquid Weekly is out, and most of it is about the business of running a Shopify app.

Mat De Sousa published his monthly App Store scan for August. More than 27,000 apps listed, 6% carrying the Built for Shopify badge.

Alexander Hupfer joined us on the podcast to talk about app analytics, specifically churn, LTV, and MRR, and which of those tell you something useful when you're running an app business.

Plus much more!

I hope you learn something new!

Customers are starting to shop like this:

"hoodie for walking around SF on a windy summer day"

An AI agent answers that by building a comparison table.

It can only compare facts someone actually wrote down.

@kgelster 's fix: give Shopify Catalog a product metafield written for an LLM instead of a human.

LW 247 is out

This week's issue is a special one - our FIVE YEAR anniversary.

Who could believe that this little experiment to scratch my own itch for a regular source of Shopify development related news and content would go on for half a decade!

That's 245 issues and 2,969 links.

To celebrate I decided to do something different with this issue and analyze how the Shopify development landscape has changed during that time.

New Liquid Weekly episode: we pit Claude vs. Codex against each other building real Shopify extensions — same MCP, wildly different results.

@trpage_dev also built a full coffee shop brand (theme, imagery, metaobjects) with AI in one afternoon for his DEV talk.

Also: Shopify just added identity verification for partners requesting Collaborator access.
