The New York Times interviewed me about Roost!
In April, I launched Roost with a short TikTok. Since then, over 700,000 people around the world have joined.
Roost was a concept with my college buddies from over 11 years ago.
What if messaging didn't demand your attention? | designed Roost around anticipation instead of endless scrolling.
I had no idea people would want it. Turns out, a lot of people did.
Watching Roost grow from person to person, country to country, and become something people genuinely care about has been one of the most surreal experiences of my life.
I've learned that people aren't tired of social media, they're tired of the way social has been built.
Thank you to everyone who has sent a bird, told a friend, or even posted about it online. Spending my nights and weekends on this thing is worth it knowing how much people are loving Roost.
And thank you to The New York Times for telling part of the story.

Guys @Roostsocial and that other app are very different.

On roost you can:
1. Start with 4 starters and select from birds, turtles, and snails.
2. level up their speeds with bullet hell and taking care of them.
3. collect passport stamps and meet people with penpal matching
4. send voice notes, drawings, pictures, and long form letters
5. Join group chats in the form of nests
6. Level up your account to get free birds
7: collect from over 1000 animals
8. Have robust privacy protections or different levels

What the apps have in common:
1. Messages take real time based on the actual speed of the bird/animal
2. Have a map that shows the poly line of where it goes.

What they do:
1. Only send pigeons
2. Pigeons have a chance to die
