We are so proud of our #HighSchool#Reading Leaders at Stewart County HS in Lumpkin, #GA. Make no mistake - these great students #Read2Succeed. Keep up the good work!
@LaurentCoretha#CFRECultureofLiteracy A book club is an excellent idea and a great way for students to bond over books. Adding high interest books to the PBIS store is an awesome idea!
@PamelaD40443712#CFRECultureofLiteracy A week of reading activities is an excellent way to get kids involved and spark an interest in children and adults. This is a great idea for all ages.
@Teacher766#CFRECultureofLiteracy The holiday themed reading night is a fantastic idea! It's a great way to get the whole family involved in reading and quality time together!
@heckwolf#CFRECultureofLiteracy I love the idea of a poster and a one pager as an exemplar. A poster is a great "eye catching" way to get someone reading about a book or topic they may not have thought to read. Excellent idea!
@MsLVWest #CFRECultureofLiteracy Volunteers at the library are an excellent idea! There are so many retired or older people in communities that have a wealth of knowledge that should be shared with other generations. Great idea!
#CFRECultureofLiteracy Our media specialist discussed a program that is happening in our schools called We Both Read. I continued the discussion with my principal and we decided to choose 10th graders to read to PreK students using our Read with Malcolm books. #ReadWithMalcolm
@heckwolf#CFREDigitalResources WOW! I can't wait to look through this site. Students enjoy completing assignments online and its a great way for teachers to quickly know who has turned in their work. Plus, we dont have to lug home a big bag of papers to grade!
@MsLVWest #CFREDigitalResources Technology is the world our students have grown up in. They are excellent researchers and are able to learn so much electronically. This resource is a great way to guide them into learning informational writing.
@LaurentCoretha#CFREDigitalResources Im sure your middle school students enjoy using technology to find enjoyable books to read. What a great way to get them excited about reading!
@Teacher766#CFREDigitalResources I did not know Galileo was mobile! Thank you for sharing. I shared this information with our dual enrolled students since they all have cell phones but dont all have a laptop or computer at home.
@PamelaD40443712 Thank you Pam ! I shared this with the Black History Program committee at my school. What a great resource to have and I love that it identifies grade levels. #CFREDigitalResources
In the past, I have used https://t.co/WDiQlca4Ne to hook reluctant readers. The writers publish their stories and you can search based on topics and interest. I give the students freedom to choose the topic then I review the text before they read it. #CFREDigitalResources
@Teacher766 Carla, I used to do a QuickWrite and I have gotten away from it. I am going to revisit that strategy again. Students are able to write without feeling like they really are, which is intimidating to some. #CFREContentLearning
