This commitment involves daily tweets, letters to senators and congressmen, engaging with the media, writing articles, creating videos, and scrutinizing the absence of such a bill until it becomes a reality.

The Need for an Ombudsman Bill in Florida

Florida's prison system has faced significant challenges, including reports of inhumane conditions, lack of transparency, and inadequate oversight. An Ombudsman Bill would establish an independent office to investigate complaints, ensure accountability, and uphold the rights of the incarcerated people and staff.

Federal Precedent: The Federal Prison Oversight Act

In July 2024, President Joe Biden signed the Federal Prison Oversight Act into law, establishing an independent ombudsman to field and investigate complaints within the federal prison system. This act aims to address issues such as sexual assaults, criminal misconduct by staff, chronic understaffing, escapes, and high-profile deaths.

•Write letters to state senators and representatives urging them to support this legislation.

•Scrutinize and expose the ongoing issues resulting from the absence of an Ombudsman Bill.

This unwavering commitment will persist until Florida enacts an Ombudsman Bill that ensures justice, transparency, and accountability within its prison system.
