@KnightLAT Yes and yet they are correct that the flux admission cost for this new museum is bonkers pricey. Fingers crossed people bite for the bytes, tho. We need every bit of good news we can get down here.
The smoke situation in LA right now is far worse than Karen Bass @KarenBassLA@MayorOfLA is letting on
Karen herself was on a taxpayer-funded Chicago trip when this happenedโdespite her pledge to travel only to NY or DC
Crisis after crisis, and Karen is nowhere to be found.
Can we quit denigrating DTLA and just focus on investing in it and kicking the bums out of office who are holding it back? Itโs full of talent and potential - letโs focus on unleashing that.
@AdamNMayer@CapitalGroup just bought their building in a fire sale. There've got to be other rich companies who get the promise here. Why some AI start-up doesn't swoop in and land on @TheParkDTLA confounds me, for instance. And what about the fallow, corrupt LA Grand Hotel?
@AdamNMayer@YsabelJuradoLA@cd14losangeles we really need your help right now. So much opportunity for the whole city. We can't afford to miss out on what the next 2 years can bring. It's going to take your leadership and it's going to take confronting the impact of open air drug markets.
Downtown LA generates 30% of the city's tax revenue and has 30% of it's hotels. If you want LA to succeed, you should be rooting for Downtown. If there's any silver lining re the bad press, it's hopefully that it motivates our leaders to take DTLA recovery more seriously.
LA Olympics looking for 60,000 unpaid volunteers. By not paying, IOC saves estimated $100-$200 million. IOC income is about $12 billion. This feels like exploitation. IOC could pay but doesnโt. LA CEO Reynold Hoover gets $500,000. Everyone cashes in but most athletes and vols.
Since I've seen this article floating around a lot, just want to point out a couple of things about this survey. The Times notes that the survey reached 35,000 city residents...that's residents of 75 different cities, 74 of which are not Los Angeles.
