Dear Virginians, as a Midwesterner I want to impart wisdom to you: STOP SLEDDING ON ICE or you will break your faces.
Just wait for the next snow fall. Cheese and crackers ๐ฉ๐ค
Stay safe everyone
@OgeEjidike Girl, you are going to be ok. Itโs NORMAL to get things wrong in your FIRST week of residency. In fact itโs NORMAL to get things wrong through out your WHOLE residency. Whatโs important is that everyday you grow into a stronger resident. Cheer up!
@nikki_laureano You can hire a broker, got a really great apartment in a super safe area with unbelievable affordable rent. I think this place is the most convenient place Iโve ever lived in
@studentdrdemon Told my high school counselor I wanted to go to UCLA for college in my first semester FRESHMAN year. I had a 3.4 GPA. Told me I should aim for community college bc my gpa was low. Graduated at the top of my class with 4.2 gpa, almost full ride great college
@kharris7873 @medmatchpros@julianachaveso 1. Come up with an elevator pitch. It should be a summary of what you bring to the table and leave room for ppl to be courious enough to ask you follow up questions
2. Have 5 things you want interviewers to know about you b4 the interview ends
3. ASK FOR THE JOB!
@_shadiam Great advice! Also, donโt be afraid to be wrong. If you donโt know just say you donโt know, DO๐๐พNOT๐๐พLIE. Take that โLโand look up the answers after. You get attendings respect and trust when you are HONEST and you show active improvement. Practice makes PROGRESS
After TWO AND A HALF years of failing + THREE prelim years, I finally matched categorical at an amazing residency. Thank you to God, my family, friends, and mentors for helping make this happen.
To my prelims still trying, keep going! DM me for help!

@OscarVazquezMD This man is preaching people. My only tidbit to add is, when looking for prelim spots, it honestly doesnโt matter that much if itโs a โbig namedโ institution, what matters is WHO is at the residency. Look up the staff.
@OscarVazquezMD Matching is about how you perform in your Prelim year, but itโs also about who you know and who has connections in the place youโre trying to get into.
@OscarVazquezMD If you see that most of the staff went to this place as a resident, a fellow, and then was hired on as attending, then those people probably donโt have any connections with potential open positions. Look for residencies with staff from other institutions, bc they know other ppl.
