It was great to see @LisaVergin1995 at her field site today monitoring Taiga Bean Geese. Watching an incredible flock of 100+ birds feeding with Barnacles, a couple of Pink feet + a few White fronted geese was a real pleasure. Thank you!! In total, 433 were seen by the team!

New paper out in @JBiogeography https://t.co/8WIz5ehlT1! We compare some 15 years of GPS tracking and citizen science resighting data of Bewick's swans, to see which contains more information on population space use. GPS data substantially outperform resightings. Nonetheless...
We were lucky enough to witness the Aurora Borealis the other night while attempting to catch storm petrels (Lille Stormsvale) and nightjars (Natravn)! It was incredible to see the swirling colours over the dunes at the Northern Tip of Grenen during this rare occasion!
Last night we managed to catch our first European Storm-petrel (Stormsvale) of the year! It was well worth the wait. This is our ninth Petrel caught at the station, with 8 European Storm-Petrels and 1 Leach's Storm Petrel (Stor Stormsvale) being caught between 2021 and today.
Amazing song of a Blyth’s Reed Warbler. Despite its rather dull appearance it is a great imitator! 6th of June minimum 4 Blyth’s were singing in the area. Video by Søren Leth-Nissen

The newest data has come in just now...! He left the region yesterday afternoon and arrived in Belgium early this morning (took a rest at sea near Norwich). Quite extraordinary....
Another first-ever this winter: 360E (Steffen) has gone to Northern Scotland! He left NL towards the north on 9 Feb, steared west and rested at sea on the morning of the 10th. He is currently staying just south of Mintlaw. Anybody know people there that could go and look him up?
#HappyNewYear to all of you!🤍
Thank you for all of your support during the year! We are looking forward to sharing our experiences with you in 2024! ✨
