I’m deeply sorry to hear news of Colin Renfrew’s passing. There is so much to say about his life and work in archaeology - his intellectual range, openness, curiosity and generosity. Where to even begin? Condolences to colleagues in Cambridge, and to Colin’s family.

To all those with whom I've shared moments of joy, laughter, anger, exhaustion & absolute frustration. To the steppe that takes and gives. To this country that has brought me so much.
May I be a dot in the vast Mongolian landscape for many years to come.
#MongolianArchaeology
Ten years ago, I first went to work as an archaeologist in Mongolia. A logical next step for a maritime archaeologist in training, evidently. I'm not sure what I was expecting - probably fewer sleepless nights stranded in Russian vans. 1/3
What I found was a landscape of immensity and people who continue to have a profound impact on my life.
As I mark 10 years of this wild ride, I wanted to take the time to say thank you to all my friends and colleagues in Mongolia, to those whose paths have crossed mine there- 2/3
Brilliant lunchtime tour of the 'I Planted a Seed' exhibition at @UCLLibraries by @annafineman, featuring material from @UCLSpecColl, @IOE_London and the @FolkloreSociety archive. My childhood poetry skills have been put to shame - feeling very inspired! https://t.co/ZtQlDTh0Kh
Great briefing today on a systematic approach to managing the #ephemera in our collection ahead of major collection rehousing work at the @PetrieMuseEgypt. Watch this space - more soon!
