3/4 At #Tyre Public Secondary School, now a collective shelter, we met displaced families, some who have moved 4 to 5 times over the past two years.
Women clearly are carrying the heaviest burden… All spoke of their desire for peace, normality for themselves and their children.

Local authorities are closest to and central to supporting displaced families & those still trying to stay in their homes amid severely damaged services &capacities.

With the 10-day ceasefire, hope is slowly returning in 🇱🇧
While some are cautiously attempting go back home, many are still waiting.
UNHCR continues to rehabilitate collective shelters hosting displaced families in 🇱🇧 improving living conditions for those who cannot return yet.
Hours after the ceasefire started, many displaced families began their journey back home, cautiously longing for lasting stability.
Others remain in displacement, waiting for more clarity on how the situation evolves.

In Saida, after 3hrs on the road from Beirut 🇱🇧. Roads packed with families rushing to return, to see the state of their homes & villages after the ceasefire was announced after 46 days of intense hostilities.
So much hope to return home, from a situation of forced displacement.
