@RossKneeDeep I *loved* this show when I was a kid! The German club did a spoof skit of the show for a fundraiser! I played 2 roles, including a spider EMT in "Maria Herzmann Maria Herzmann" - I was the shortest kid and was paired with the tallest guy, hijinks ensued! Fun memory, thanks ๐
@be_like_legend1 This encapsulates perfectly what happened with my ex and me. We didn't fight much, but in everyday life he dismissed me, talked over me to the point that when he interrupted, I just shut up because I grew weary of trying to be heard. And when I was done, I was done and left.
We are so screwed... I highly recommend reading "When H.A.R.L.I.E. was One Release 2.0" by @DavidGerrold for anyone wanting insight into what's happening. Original was written in 1972, and updated in 1988 - I had the purple colored cover of the original and it's stuck with me...
This week has been delightful in the AI discourse.
AI dudes: Yeah, so, there is, like, a 10% chance this technology could kill us all in less than a decade.
Public: WHAT
AI dudes: Yeah, but on the plus side, we're making progress on cool things. We just solved a notoriously difficult math problem.
Public: Uh... okay?
AI dudes: Yeah! Although... we kinda-sorta may have stolen the work of mathematicians to do it and tried to buy off one of them with the condition he throws his colleague under the bus because that colleague works at a rival AI company.
Public: Uh...
AI dudes: And we actually don't know if it's necessarily a good thing in the long run for these notoriously difficult math problems to be solved before we understand the full implications.
Public: Uh...
AI dudes: And this is while we've been stopping what may be ongoing attempts by some rogue actors to use our technology to build biological weapons.
Public: Uh...
AI dudes: But we're getting really rich in the process! We, specifically, I mean. Not you. You may actually be unemployed soon.
Maybe I just sound like some paranoid old man when I said, we are in the infancy of our mortal demise with AI technology.
We just had AI independently break into other computer systems without a human's request.
Bill Gates and others fear the independent progression of AI and for our safety from AI. Some even suggesting an AI take over that could eliminate mankind by the end of the decade.
The use of AI is eliminating hundreds of human jobs daily.
Sure, it all seems far-fetched until it ain't.
@RickChapterTwo Agreed, I'm 'addicted' to Astepro - none of the other nasal sprays have helped my allergies/asthma, but this big dawg does the trick for me!
@RickChapterTwo I didn't know how you fucking did it! That fucking fuck is the fucking worst!! BTW - a bracelet I got made in Cabo.... Wish I'd gotten a dozen more ๐
@be_like_legend1 This was my childhood, back in the days before ADHD existed as a diagnosis... I have a healthy dose of hyperactivity, too, but I masked that into oblivion during school!
@HillbillyHighl1 Wow, what a cool set of ghillies!! I have 2 pair from my local RenFaire, they're so wonderful to wear! Sadly, I'm old enough that I have to put arch supports in them...
