all Cinemalaya 2026 entries are promising but i'm most excited for these two (LOVE the posters also btw):
• Tayo Lang ang Nakakaalam by David R. Corpuz
• 2 Valid IDs by Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan & Abet Pagdagdagan Raz
I genuinely wish that this movie could spark change kasi for sure it's part of the goal when they're doing this
Ang hirap kumuha ng government IDs satin, pipila ka, fill-up forms, magbabayad ka tapos , sa iba, ilang araw pa bago dumating
(sa iba nga ilang taon na eh)
obsession taught me lots of men think rape is only when a man forces himself on a woman, they aren't educated enough or don't care enough to admit there are many ways men commit rape, taking away someone's autonomy for your own pleasure is rape, bear raped nikki, no ifs or buts
OMG seated! We do really need to talk about how dehumanizing + anti-poor the bureaucratic process is when it comes to availing public services in the Philippines… like it’s just a whole other level of hell 🥲
Movies like this carry the weight of our everyday struggles, so rooting for its success is really just rooting for a better, kinder, & far less complicated future for every Filipino. Let's hope this opens more discussions and changes with how bureaucratic the system is for many.
LOOK: The official poster for 2 Valid IDs
A poor farmer, unable to claim a remittance because she lacks the required two valid IDs, finds herself in a situation that challenges her character, beliefs, and morality.
Directed by Ma-an L. Asuncion-Dagñalan

Alam mo, kung guilty ka talaga, the only strategy you have left is to delay due process. Kasi kung inosente ka, gusto mong i-resolve na agad yung issue para matapos na at maka move on na tayong lahat.
