“The resilience of the community of life and the well-being of humanity depend upon preserving a healthy biosphere with all its ecological systems, a rich variety of plants and animals, fertile soils, pure waters, and clean air.” @earthcharter
We can’t keep piling endless demand onto finite water supplies.
Families can't be left without essential water while AI data centres burn through it.
Madness.
We need long‑term solutions that put living standards first - that means public ownership of water.
The same LED lights we are all forced to use in our homes, they produce Blue light which is harmful not only to humans but to animals and insects.
You might wonder why everything we are forced to adopt is always harmful to us ?
Packed village hall meeting in the Fife village of Auchtertool to discuss the proposed massive 600MW AI data centre right next to the village and on scenic farmland - that is estimated to consume so much energy - equivalent to half of Scotland’s entire energy consumption. No environmental impact assessment has been provided by Fife Council. This must be stopped, No one voted for this.
No river in England is now certified as safe for swimmers. England's rivers are among the most polluted in Europe. This is not an accident of neglect. It is the logical outcome of removing the legal architecture that enforced standards, by design, to clear the path for private governance.
This 600MW AI data centre is proposed on scenic farmland by the village of Auchtertool, between Kircaldy and Cowdenbeath in Fife.
The size of the data centre enormous and as you can see from the maps, it dwarfs the neighbouring village of Auchertool.
It has been calculated that this data centre will use the same amount of energy in a year than half of Scotland’s households, or 20% of Scotland’s total energy use. So the energy use of Achtertool data centre when built will use in a year the same energy as 1.34 million households – or 53% of Scottish households.
There will now be a period of three to four weeks consultation period when the public can comment or object to the planning application. Here’s the online link to leave a comment:

Google is about to conduct one of the LARGEST open-air biological experiments in U.S. HISTORY.
64 MILLION bacteria-infected mosquitoes are set to be released into Florida and California — potentially causing irreversible ecosystem disruptions.
This must be STOPPED.
It has been calculated that the proposed 600MW 'hyperscale' AI data centre in Fife would use the energy of more than 50% of Scotland's households. No one voted for this monstrosity.
Wow:
A striking 84% of proposed UK data centres are being built in regions already officially classified by the Environment Agency as "seriously water-stressed.
These centres have to be stopped.
For water companies to warn that “customers will be cut off as reservoirs run dry” is a disgrace.
💧Water companies in England and Wales lose 3 billion litres of water every day from leaking pipes.
💧Water companies have sold off dozens of reservoirs to housing developers, while no new ones have been built in the last 30 years.
💧 AI data centres guzzle 5 million gallons of water per day.
Yet another example of a basic essential service that has been wilfully neglected and diminished because of corporation greed, negligence and cost cutting.
A large data center consumes anywhere from 100 million to 1.8 billion gallons of water a year, depending on its size and cooling methods. This is primarily driven by evaporative cooling towers and equates to the water use of a small to mid-sized town of 10,000 to 50,000 people.
@markrwilliamson There are still a few, but well down compared with not so long ago. Sad, but hopefully recoverable. Anyone with a garden can help (nest sites, no chemicals, shady cool areas etc)
How much louder do the experts have to shout before the government listens on #FoodSecurity?
No, we can't just rely on "the market", we need to produce far more of our own, and stop the #FoodWaste of #FactoryFarming

Stop putting solar panels across thousands of acres of prime farmland. Stop ignoring the local rural communities who object to this. This is countryside vandalism. Stick solar panels on car parks and roofs rather than on the farmlands that feed us.
@miestfy@BirdsMatter_ie@EricTheBirdman@NatureNymph People get defensive when this issue is raised. I believe the figures are between 30 million and 70 million birds killed by domestic cats in the UK each year.
