Jaswant Singh Khalra’s biopic waited for over 3 years for a theatrical release in India. It was not allowed. The movie stayed on OTT platform Zee5 for under 48 hours before it was withheld for viewers in India. It is still available to watch anywhere else in the world. According to sources, the movie got over 11 million views within the first 48 hours on Zee5.
The Indian govt has so far given no official reasons for first halting the release of Diljit Dosanjh-starrer Satluj (earlier Punjab ‘95), or now withholding it. Director-writer Honey Trehan has maintained that the movie was released on OTT without any cuts that were suggested by the Indian censor board. Read our Weekly Digest for more.

Punjab ‘95 is finally out — under a new name, Satluj. Written & directed by Honey Trehan, and based on the life of human rights activist Shaheed (martyr) Jaswant Singh Khalra, the film has been released on OTT platform Zee5. The movie has the Khalra family's approval and Bibi Paramjit Kaur Khalra has assured the film is the uncut original with run time 2 hours and 43 minutes.

Sri Akal Takht Sahib summoned all Sikh MLAs and Cabinet Ministers of Panjab to share the Sikh body’s apprehensions with the state’s new anti-sacrilege law. Many of the MLAs accepted in front of the Jathedar they had not even read the law before passing it in the Assembly. The Takht opposed ‘state interference’ in Sikh affairs and gave the govt a one-month ultimatum to make certain amends in the law.

‘Kaurnama 3: Sikh Women Martyrs of June 1984 Ghallughara’ aims at telling the never-heard-before stories of women martyrs of the ‘Operation Blue Star’ in Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple). The PAC asked the Bhakra Beas Management Board to release excess water from the Bhakra Dam reservoir before the monsoon to avoid floods in Panjab like those in 2025. On June 11, the water level was 21 ft higher than on the same date in 2025. By June 22, it had decreased by 11 ft. In 2026, the BBMB also followed advice on displaying reservoir figures, a demand made by the PAC over the last two years.
