East Bridgewater, MA — First responders rescued an injured tree worker stranded about 47 feet up a pine tree on Northridge Drive Wednesday morning. The man, secured in a harness, was using a chainsaw when a falling branch kicked back and broke his arm. He remained conscious but couldn’t descend.
Deputy Fire Chief Craig Winsor requested the Plymouth County Technical Rescue Team, which used a 35-foot ladder, ropes, and harnesses to reach and lower the worker safely.
He was treated on scene, taken to a landing zone, and flown by MedFlight to Tufts Medical Center. OSHA is investigating. Mutual aid was provided by Whitman, Rockland, and Bridgewater fire chiefs. East Bridgewater Police secured the scene.
“This was a real team effort,” said Fire Chief Kevin Nord. Chief Michael Jenkins added, “Great work by police, fire, and EMS in a dangerous rescue.”

Somerville, MA - Full Video showing the ICE arrest of a Tufts University student yesterday in Somerville. Rumeysa Ozturk, a Turkish national and Ph.D. student at Tufts University, was detained by U.S. Department of Homeland Security agents near her residence in Somerville, Massachusetts, on March 25, 2025. Ozturk was reportedly on her way to meet friends to break her Ramadan fast when she was apprehended. Her attorney, Mahsa Khanbabai, stated that Ozturk held valid F-1 visa status and that no charges have been filed against her. Khanbabai has filed a habeas petition in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts seeking Ozturk’s release. Federal Judge Indira Talwani has ordered that Ozturk not be moved outside the District of Massachusetts without prior notice and has required ICE to respond to the petition by Friday.
Boston, MA - Firefighters in Boston have extinguished a 3 Alarm house fire on Bruce Street in Dorchester this evening. Crews arrived to find smoke showing from the home, with a report of a person possibly in the basement. Searches were conducted and all occupants were out of the home. It is unknown at this time if any injuries were reported.
Brockton, MA - Authorities are actively searching for 22-year-old Davinci Leonard, who is wanted in connection with the tragic double homicide that occurred Saturday night outside the Chipotle at Westgate Mall in Brockton.
Leonard is accused of fatally shooting 15-year-old Tymari Albertson and 18-year-old Cevannah Alvarez following an altercation near the Urban Air Adventure Park. Authorities believe Leonard fled the scene shortly after the shooting.
Leonard is 5’9”, approximately 140 lbs, with black hair and brown eyes. He is considered armed and dangerous.

Massachusetts - Massachusetts State Police Fire Trooper Michael Proctor Following Misconduct Investigation.
The Massachusetts State Police have terminated veteran trooper Michael Proctor for misconduct related to his role in the Karen Read investigation.
Proctor, who served as the lead investigator in the case, faced a state police trial board that found him guilty on two charges: unsatisfactory performance and violating policy on alcoholic beverages. Massachusetts State Police Col. Geoffrey Noble announced his decision to accept the board’s recommendation on Wednesday.
Proctor was initially relieved of duty in July 2024, shortly after Read’s first trial ended in a hung jury. He was subsequently suspended without pay.
In a statement, Col. Noble emphasized that maintaining public trust requires accountability within the department and stressed that officers must uphold the agency’s core values.
Proctor retains the right to appeal his termination to the Civil Service Commission.
Remembering Sgt. Scott Sherman
The Randolph Police Department is mourning the tragic loss of Sgt. Scott Sherman, who passed away unexpectedly while off duty in Abington on Sunday night.
Sgt. Sherman dedicated 23 years to the department, serving with honor and integrity since 2002. He was promoted to Sergeant in 2022 and previously served as a School Resource Officer and the department’s Elder Affairs Officer. Known for his intelligence, humor, and compassion, Sgt. Sherman made a lasting impact on his colleagues and the Randolph community.
Chief Anthony Marag described him as a respected professional whose dedication to public service touched countless lives. The department has asked for privacy for Sgt. Sherman’s family as they grieve.

Sudbury, MA - Earlier this morning at approximately 8:25 a.m., Sudbury Police and Fire, along with assistance from Wayland Fire, responded to a crash involving a school van that ended up in a shallow swampy area near Water Row and Old Sudbury Road.
Firefighters in water rescue gear waded into the water to safely extract the driver and occupants. All individuals were evaluated at the scene, and the driver was transported to a local hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by Sudbury Police.

Boston, MA - Yesterday, as the St. Patrick’s Day Parade began, Boston Firefighters were fighting an 8-Alarm fire at 82 Gerard Street in Roxbury. Over 150 Firefighters battled the fire for over 6 hours as the city celebrated the holiday. 3 Firefighters were taken to the hospital by Boston EMS. The fire was eventually placed under control later in the evening. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Boston, MA - The Boston Police are currently working an officer involved shooting in the area of the 500 Block of Boylston Street. Initial unconfirmed reports indicate 2 individuals were fighting when at least one produced a knife. Reportedly an off-duty police officer witnessed the fight and discharged their firearm. It’s unknown if anyone has been stabbed. The suspect was struck in the chest and in traumatic arrest on scene. More information will be made available as it’s released.
Topsfield, MA - Early Monday morning, TPD responded to a breaking & entering at a home near Hickory Lane. A suspect fled the scene as officers arrived, prompting an immediate search. Due to the response of Amesbury PD’s K9 unit the suspect was tracked down & taken into custody.

Salem MA - Firefighters responded overnight to a large brush fire off Highland Ave. To manage the blaze effectively, they initiated a controlled burn rather than directly combating the flames. While the fire did approach nearby homes and commercial buildings, firefighters successfully contained and extinguished it before any structures were ignited.
