Priti Patel tried 3 yrs ago to revive the plan but Treasury blocked it saying the required costs for upgrading the island’s power supply, new desalination facilities, other infrastructure etc would prove exorbitant. That's even before they considered staff (c. 800 live on the island) and environmental costs!

Why don't they put all their efforts into turbo-charging the backlog, hiring more borderforce staff, smashing UK trafficking gangs and setting up legal routes. As well as fixing #brokenbritain

@benleo I like facts, Ben. Here are some:
- The dossier obtained by Farge and my thread both show that he's not rich enough to bank with Coutts.

- The dossier also shows he's a damn sight too risky.

- The statements from the two CEOs show neither apologised for closing his account.

@chrisgreybrexit He should blame Brexit rather than Italy, which is only following the law regarding visa requirements, similar to those the UK applies to foreigners.
