Yup. 👇It’s “not a race” but all parkrun results are listed on the official UK national athletics & running websites - which are supposedly ONLY for licensed races. Males in the F category in parkrun are ranked in the official national women’s rankings. It’s a farce.

I set up a poll to see which solution people preferred.
A category for women only is by far the most popular.

I see that Stella Creasy is accusing me of leading a pitchfork mob against her, because I opined that she is less likeable and more hypocritical than the wild parakeet she mistook for an escaped pet.

For those who don’t know, Creasy is an elected politician and self-proclaimed ‘old-fashioned feminist’ who is ‘still fighting the patriarchy’. She’s more than once publicly defined herself against me (and my reaction was not to accuse her of leading a mob, even though I was probably averaging a dozen death threats a day at the point when the article below appeared.)

I thought it might be instructive for those of us who don’t share Creasy’s brand of ‘feminism’ to examine her campaigning record, so we can learn to do better.

Creasy wants women admitted to the male-only, exclusive, London-based private members Garrick Club, a change that would benefit rather privileged women like Creasy. Creasy is a mother who wants better accommodations for working mothers, a change that would benefit Creasy. Creasy takes selfies at a men-only Muslim march because that reminds everyone how non-racist she is, which benefits Creasy. Creasy asserts that ‘trans women are women’, which keeps her in good odour with her party’s most aggressive activists, and benefits Creasy.

However, keeping cross-dressing heterosexual men out of nurses’ changing rooms doesn’t benefit Creasy, because Creasy has never had to mop up other people’s piss, blood and vomit at work. Challenging the notion that a male basketball player becomes a girl if he says he is doesn’t benefit Creasy, who has no sporting ambitions. Speaking up against the patriarchy as practised by non-white men doesn’t benefit Creasy, who wants those selfie-opportunities. Criticising an ideological movement that persecutes, harasses and openly threatens women who don’t believe some women have penises wouldn't benefit Creasy, because she's already fully-signed up to self-id, where any man who says he's a woman must be taken at his word.

As the late Gloria Steinem said: ‘“Feminism has never been about getting a job for one woman. It's about making life more fair for women everywhere.’

Creasy the patriarchy-challenger is provably more than happy to cosy up to men and misogynist movements when it suits her public profile and career advancement, no matter the harms those men might be causing less privileged women. By Steinem’s definition, what Stella espouses is not feminism, but Creasyism, and I suggest the emblem for this brave new rights movement should be an indignant parakeet with severely ruffled feathers.

🚨WOW: Last year in Victoria, an 11-year-old Year 5 girl ran the race of her life.

Emily finished third. Only first and second went to regionals.

One of those two spots went to a male-born student in the girls’ race.

Emily is the granddaughter of Faith Leech — the 15-year-old who swam with Dawn Fraser on Australia’s first women’s Olympic gold-medal relay team at Melbourne 1956. Emily wants that path. Running. Regionals. Then more.

Her father, Troy, put it in writing to the Victorian Department of Education. Progress on merit. Not ideology. Give her the regional place under the circumstances.

They said no.

Brendan Rigby, Executive Director of Statewide Programs, wrote it plainly:

Students aged 11 and under may compete where they “feel most comfortable.”
Emily’s case did not meet the criteria for an invitation.

That is not a loophole. Victorian rules are built that way. The exception that lets sport keep sex-based categories where strength, stamina or physique matter does not apply under 12. Comfort decides the lane.

Emily later sat in Parliament while Liberal MPs Moira Deeming and Bev McArthur raised her name. The policy did not move.

An 11-year-old girl’s qualifying place was treated as optional. A boy’s category preference was treated as settled.

That is the state’s position.

Wake up, Australia.

Menopause is the one stage of a woman's life when the standard advice does the most damage, because every instruction is aimed at a body she no longer has.

Her oestrogen falls and takes her carbohydrate tolerance with it. She is told to eat more wholegrains. The advice makes it worse.

Her muscle starts going, a few hundred grams a year. She is told to cut the red meat and do more cardio. The advice makes it worse.

Her cortisol climbs and parks the fat on her middle. She is told to count calories and walk it off, which raises it further. The advice makes it worse.

Her cholesterol rises, because the body is trying to make hormones out of it. She is offered a statin. The advice makes it worse.

Her sleep breaks into pieces. She is told to try camomile and go easy on the cheese. The advice makes it worse.

Her head fogs and her mood drops. She is offered an antidepressant in the same ten minutes. The advice makes it worse.

Her joints ache. She is told it is her weight, and handed the diet that put it there. The advice makes it worse.

Then the numbers get worse, and that is called ageing.

Every one of those symptoms is the same body asking for the same three things: protein to hold the muscle, fat and cholesterol to build the hormones, and an end to the sugar spikes it can no longer absorb.

That is a plate of beef, eggs and butter. It has been that plate for two million years.

The women who switch in their late forties say the same thing in the same order. The weight goes without a fight. The sleep comes back. The fog lifts. The joints go quiet. The flushes ease.

They gave her a statin for the cholesterol her body was trying to turn into oestrogen.

Then they told her to eat less of the only food that could have replaced it.

Britain has fallen in love with two television programmes about livestock, fifty years apart, and only one of them changed anything.

All Creatures Great and Small ran on the BBC from 1978 to 1990 and came back on Channel 5 in 2020. Alf Wight's books before it sold in the millions. It gave the country the Yorkshire Dales, a young vet with his arm inside a cow, and an idea of rural England so warm that people still drive up there to look at it.

It sent a generation into veterinary school. It filled hotels. It shifted books, calendars and coach tours.

What it never did was change a single thing about how Britain buys food.

You could adore Herriot on a Sunday evening and shop entirely on price on a Monday morning, and there was nothing in it to stop you. The programme showed the animals and the people. It did not show the accounts, because in 1978 that was not the story.

Then Clarkson's Farm arrives, filmed on a landscape just as pretty, and puts a number on the screen.

A thousand acres, a full year, £144. A council refusing a barn on a farm. A cow destroyed on four millimetres of swelling. A sausage that costs 74p to make and 18p to import.

Waitrose sold 193% more British sirloin. Agricultural degree applications climbed. Thirteen thousand people stood in Westminster. Permitted development rights were rewritten. Two Secretaries of State moved.

Herriot made Britain love the countryside.

Clarkson made it check the receipt.

Fifty years of affection did nothing at all. Six years of arithmetic changed the law.
