Media shapes the agenda & ppl's understanding (or not)
Ppl don’t understand:
the #climate breakdown that is locked in
the damage #Covid does to individuals & to society,
that we can limit its spread (eg air cleaning) but aren't!
So IMO media a better target than govt or corps
I can’t see that we are going to stop this. Not because we can’t but because we’re not - because the public aren’t demanding change because the media won’t reflect the urgency of the situation. IMHO Just Stop Oil etc should focus almost everything on targeting and shaming the media until they tell the public exactly what scientists are saying, on front pages, weekly 💀
Please can I add a different view on the #COVIDinquiry, something which the inquiry will ignore.
#COVID-19 is a disease!
The COVID-19 pandemic is caused by COVID-19!
Pandemics and the diseases which cause them are not the same thing!
A thread ...
The Covid Inquiry is important both to learn from our mistakes but also to throw a light on the damaging effects of corruption and maligned leadership
But so far the Inquiry have avoided key questions…
1/18
#covidinquiry focusing on past decisions.
Media lapping up the stories of personal failings and infighting.
Both failing to look at urgent actions we could be taking now to reduce chronic illness, disability and deaths in the still ongoing pandemic.
It's not over
Apparently the U.K. government are not content with just binning millions of Covid vaccines rather than giving them out (see thread 🧵 below)…
…now it seems they are ALSO binning millions of life-saving Paxlovid anti-viral treatments!

This government makes such a show of defending free speech but behind the scenes…
“The guidelines are designed to prevent anyone who has criticised the government in the previous three to five years from speaking at government-organised events.”

As someone who has been on HRT for 5 years, I will pledge my support right now to any politician who suggests that first line support for erectile dysfunction is talking therapy. You know, to level the playing field.
Who wants a black @3M Aura? More would benefit from excellent protection if this respirator was available in black. We've written to the CEO of 3M to highlight this popular request. Retweet if you want to make safety stylish @3MHealthCare @3MSafety @3MNews https://t.co/tLtoWpFVhI
The Road to British Serfdom
“The Road to Serfdom” is a foundational text for “libertarians”.
Influential UK politicians seek radical deregulation & privatisation, & truncation of citizens’ rights.
They’re attempting a Hayek Brexit.
That’s a constitutional hijack.
A 🧵/1.
Behind the boats/ECHR fight is a deeper fight - the attempt (unsuccessful) by a set of Conservative politicians, campaigners, lawyers, and a think tank, to propose legislation (eg Rwanda and the Bill of Rights Bill) a purpose of which was to pick deliberate fights with, and create conditions for arguing for the withdrawal from, the European Convention on Human Rights, a treaty which is both binding in international law and incorporated into domestic law through the Human Rights Act.
Because those campaigners could never corral enough of their colleagues to make ECHR withdrawal and human rights act repeal an actual policy, they have implanted bombs into other areas of legislation in order to attempt to create the conditions for ECHR withdrawal.
Their attempts have to date failed, and the latest failure was because the UK Supreme Court spotted the underlying purpose miles away and pointed out the very non-radical position that certain principles of refugee law do not emerge from human rights law, but many other sources.
One of those campaigners has of course been Dominic Cummings - see https://t.co/Cu9WGSXmDR
Tory MP’s now saying we can just leave ECHR & create our own bill of rights. But that presupposes we can trust the Government with our human rights in the first place. WE CAN’T! According to international Human Rights Watch the UK could soon make the list of countries that abuse rather than protect human rights! During the past twelve months we’ve had an anti strike act - designed to rob millions of workers of their democratic right to strike, an Elections Act will lock millions of people out of the electoral process & new laws will strip back our right to protest and limit our rights to judicial review. Based on its own actions this Government cannot be trusted to protect human our rights!
This covid thing is so messed up. Wtf are we doing? There are so many studies showing the damage it does. It’s costing the workforce, the economy, education. The onus is on patients to protect themselves, children, employees from employers, population from policies. Why?…🧵
