@HMRCcustomers Yes it will be registered this year September, so does that mean it is exempt from expensive car tax for its lifetime, unless there are new rules in the budget going forward.
@HMRCcustomers
Expensive car supplement
For new electric vehicles with a list price exceeding £40,000, you will now need to pay the expensive car supplement from the second tax payment onwards. This applies to vehicles registered on or after 1 April 2025. I need this clarifying.

@HMRCcustomers This still doesn’t answer my question re Expensive car Tax ,
The car will be registered 1/9/24 and is £41k so it will be exempt from the Expensive car tax as all EVs are until 1/4/25?
Can you tell me if this car, as the law stands at the moment, will be exempt for its entirety
@HMRCcustomers Hi Amandine, I have read all the info and spoken to DVLA who agree that it is not crystal clear with electric cars that have been exempt up to date, can I get clarification?
If I buy a new electric car (£41k) in September 2024, will it be exempt from Expensive car tax for its first year only or for all of its first 6years as it will be registered prior to April 1st 2025?
