Adults don't post their ages publicly online. She/her. Demi-bi butch. Suing House Dellamorte for emotional damages. Peace is a lie, there is only the struggle.
I hate how the word "weird" is used as a synonym for "bad." I've been called weird my whole life for loving anime and video games, and honestly, that word has no effect on me anymore. Is just..the way people use it as a condemnation of bad morals and no, weird≠bad
@biresistance Saying people can't even touch or talk about things related to groups they aren't a part of even if it's in an obviously positive manner is so fucking 2015 we need to leave it behind. It's not fucking woke or progressive.
@archaicf0ssil Dukat always up to some bullshit. Like, buddy, it's over. Go move to Space Argentina or something. He's just in this evil shit for the love of the game.
@skarsghardy@ChickenNug80655 I wish the discussion was more focused around the idea that just because the victim is fawning or doesn't show any outward displeasure, doesn't make the abuser's actions less abusive. Because nothing changed on AA's end. And I do think he cares about maintaining an image
@emilyis_emilies Also, can I point out that "consequences" is a word used to downplay the CHOICE involved in what is typically just "punishment"? Authoritarianism hinges on this rhetorical trick to frame punishment as inherent and natural. It's not something WE did to you, it's just consequence.
@dirigibug@emilyis_emilies It's not actually a fundamental part of writing, it's just what you personally have come to expect because the vast majority of the work you've watched and read has a deep moralistic streak.
@emilyis_emilies i feel like a lot of people project these really weird carceral revenge fantasies onto fictional characters in a way that's kind of revealing. especially for characters who arent unambiguously bad, what would disproportionate humiliation serve for the story?
it’s weird when people demand a character face “consequences” for their actions in shows bc like. they’re not real. the purpose of making a character isn’t to treat them how you’d treat a real person, it’s to be tools for a narrative you want to tell
Genuinely feel like a lot of the aversion against dark or taboo topics being depicted in stories comes from a belief that you can prevent these bad things from happening if you server the root of these bad things but misunderstand that the root isn’t fiction, it’s humans
@lameinfluence YEP !!!!! i think people have the mindset that because there’s a chance that people who are bisexual can end up in a relationship that appear heterosexual, they automatically had a easy experience coming out/accepting their identity but like … that’s Not how that works
If you had someone reach out to you in a time of complete and utter desperation and your first thought is "I better involve the police" – you aren't the type of person I'd want to be around.
"Wellbeing" checks aren't what you think they are.
