Trump is talking about shuttering publications and networks he disagrees with. He's talking about deporting and imprisoning Americans who dissent. This is unprecedented and undemocratic.
Wake up America.
Mohsen Mahdawi of White River Junction, Vermont was illegally detained by ICE during what was supposed to be the final step in his citizenship process.
Mr. Mahdawi, a legal resident of the US, must be afforded due process under the law and immediately released from detention.
This is an extraordinary letter from the federal government to @Harvard. It goes far beyond anything the Obama and Biden administrations did in their unlawful Title IX dictates.
The feds are essentially demanding Harvard become a vassal institution. In such an arrangement, there will be no free speech or academic freedom rights, and there will be ideological litmus tests for who gets hired or admitted.
Not only do these demands ignore the process for adjudicating alleged Title VI violations, they are fundamentally at odds with the First Amendment.
The feds cannot condition federal funding on a private university giving up its First Amendment rights.
This is big government "conservatism," plain and simple.
Trump started off strong, at least making his voters happy. Border enforcement got much better and he took a lot of action. Then it's been an endless series of unforced errors. Enormous global tariffs were a blunder of epic proportions.
Now, he's deporting innocent people - and not bringing them back. Attacking the right to free speech by having Israel's critics snatched up in the streets by masked men. Suggesting that he might not listen to the courts and that he might run for an unconstitutional third term.
If you were trying to destroy your reputation and good will, this is how you would do it. If you're on the right, you should be more frustrated than we are. He's managing to turn some of your popular positions, like deporting undocumented criminals, into unpopular ones by needlessly abusing the constitution.
Bukele and Trump have been publicly forging a partnership centered around extending the “judicial black hole” of El Salvador’s prisons to the United States as a tool for Trump’s deportation agenda.

The Supreme Court told Trump to bring back Kilmar Abrego Garcia.
The Trump administration is publicly mocking the high court now and refusing to comply with court orders.
Here’s why: https://t.co/kcpsYwBWl1
Every time America goes through one of these dark periods, the leaders responsible never get held accountable. It’s always a rush to move past things and find common ground. Well, this time we can’t play those games anymore. It needs to be clear that the people responsible for this will be going straight to jail. And that’s being generous.
This is literally fake news. JD Vance didn't read the court documents.
Here is what they actually say.
Abrego Garcia is not a "convicted gang member." He's never been charged or convicted of *any* crime. Police accused him of being MS-13 after stopping him and 3 other men for allegedly loitering outside a Home Depot, where he says he'd gone to apply for a job. It was his first and only time in state custody.
Law enforcement separated the men and interrogated them about gang membership. They told Abrego Garcia he could leave if he gave them information, which he said he didn't have.
One of the other men pointed the finger at Abrego Garcia and accused him of being affiliated with part of a gang that operates in New York, where he's never lived. That—along with the fact that he was wearing *a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie*—is the "evidence" law enforcement said showed he was in a gang.
When his lawyer went to find the police report for the Home Depot incident, Abrego Garcia wasn't even named on it. And what about the subsequent gang evaluation? The investigator who authored it was suspended.
In late 2019, Abrego Garcia won his case, was granted protected status, and was released from custody. He has had no arrests since. Those are the facts.
@JDVance Yes, this is a lie. But it also shows how they operate. Vance didn’t bother looking this up, even though it’s from the Trump administration itself. He threw out a wild accusation against this innocent guy because they don’t care what’s true or who is innocent. Facts are optional.
“No government—regardless of which party is in power—should dictate what private universities can teach, whom they can admit and hire, and which areas of study and inquiry they can pursue.” - President Alan Garber https://t.co/6cQQpcJVTd
Like so many Palestinian students arrested by ICE, Mohsen Mahdawi is fighting both genocide and anti-semitism. This is exactly what the Israel 1st-ers are terrified of.
“The fight for freedom of Palestine and the fight against antisemitism go hand-in-hand because injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere,” says Mohsen Mahdawi, co-president of Columbia's Palestinian Students Union. https://t.co/xh91MwzdHe
Outrageous misrepresentation of Supreme Court ruling. The unanimous Court ruled that the district-court order “properly requires the Government to ‘facilitate’ Abrego Garcia’s release from custody in El Salvador and to ensure that his case is handled as it would have been had he not been improperly sent to El Salvador.”
Yes, the Court also stated that the “intended scope of the term ‘effectuate’ in the District Court’s order is, however, unclear, and may exceed the District Court’s authority,” and it told the district court to “clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the Executive Branch in the conduct of foreign affairs.”
But: (1) “due regard” doesn't mean that the district court couldn't give any teeth to "effectuate"; (2) in any event, the district court dropped "effectuate" from its revised order, so this is all irrelevant. Duty to "facilitate" continues.
1) Kilmar Abrego Garcia was here legally
2) Trump illegally sent him to a prison in El Salvador; the Administration admits this was a mistake
3) The Supreme Court unanimously ordered his return
4) Trump refused
5) Trump wants to do the same thing to U.S. citizens
This is sick.
“Rashida Tlaib saying Dana Nessel is pursuing charges because she’s Jewish…” @DavidChalian, she never said this. You can’t just put words in her mouth and make up quotes. You’re supposed to be CNN, not Fox. Sheesh.
I am incredibly proud to have @ButchWare as my running mate. We are poised to shock the world come November - and keep building real power for the people beyond Election Day: https://t.co/YHoIV8yBEd
