The emerging political events will ultimately vindicate VP Sara. She stepped down from the DepEd in protest against congressional meddling in the department’s budget, and more importantly, because of her growing estrangement from BBM. She was compelled to liquidate the belatedly released ₱125 million in confidential funds in just 11 days. Congress then hastily impeached her on questionable charges, a smokescreen for the massive plunder of the national treasury through the GAA and a move to derail her 2028 presidential bid. She openly criticized Co and Romualdez as having total control over the national budget. The government even had PRRD forcibly taken to The Hague, not just because the former president denounced the government and exposed the rot in the budget, but moreso to weaken and silence her. We heard and saw her rage against this persecution, and now that rage has erupted into a national firestorm.
