Incredibly inspiring to speak to the graduates of #Pathways2Apprenticeship, who have overcome so much and are now embarking on a career of building New York City, as construction workers and union members.
Thx @WestHarlemDC, @NYC_SBS, @NYCBldgTrades for supporting this program.
@PatPizzellaDOL Keep IRAP’s out of Construction. Your bridges, towers, tunnels and power plants are built by trained professionals. Undercutting standard will put us all at risk. #1u
@greenhousenyt@delong@NewYorker@caleb_crain Have the top 1% become less wealthy, or has the worker gained a greater share and the economy grown in response, ultimately making everyone wealthier?
If you don’t think there is a problem in the non-union construction industry you’re not paying attention (or get a lot of money from REBNY people). #1u#wagetheftisacrime@NYCMayor @BPEricAdams @rubendiazjr @NYSenBenjamin @LeroyComrie https://t.co/p0IsQE25zD
Join us in demanding that our elected officials guarantee quality labor standards on all subsidized development.
What are you doing to stop the for-profit affordable housing industry from receiving public money without labor standards @rubendiazjr?

A great chance to meet some of the female candidates running for City Council in 2021 (and lord knows we could use a LOT more women in the Council!) Come out and say hi! @21in21NYC
We thank @jessicaramos & @LindaBRosenthal for their leadership in moving the #SWEATbill through the state legislature. This is a huge win for all workers, in particular workers like our members -day laborers & newly arrived immigrants who are preyed upon by unscrupulous employers
Prevailing Wages do not kill construction, and we want development, but responsible development. We want to end wage theft and worker exploitation, and build the middle class, not line developer pockets. @NYGovCuomo https://t.co/azulhLmRXS
Hundreds of #unionstrong New Yorkers gathering in Albany today rallying to #PassPublicWorks because public subsidies come with public responsibilities and that includes paying workers a prevailing wage!
“In the state of NY labor is NOT a commodity, it says so in our state constitution,” says NYS Labor Comissioner Reardon.
“Here in NY Governor Cuomo has stood with labor time and time again.”
Thank you Commisioner and @NYGovCuomo for joining us in the fight to #PassPublicWorks
As Chair of the Senate Labor Committee, I am the proud sponsor of the Public Works Bill so we can begin to end the race to the bottom in the construction industry. We must #PassPublicWorks to ensure that the people who build our state can afford to call it home. #13inAlbany
In February we announced guilty pleas from construction contractors for failing to pay their workers & falsifying records claiming to have paid them to New York City.
Today they've been sentenced to jail time, probation, and will be required to pay restitution.
There are many examples of big real estate--the groups that fund all these RRR ads--opposing any expansion of prevailing wage.
REBNY has long led the charge for "open shop" construction projects that favor cheap labor over union labor. Why would ANY union support RRR?
.@NYSenBenjamin Good Morning from our West Harlem pre-Apprenticeship program - looking forward to careers in the UNION construction trades #passpublicworks#1u
This #MemorialDay, we honor the brave men and women in our #military who gave the ultimate sacrifice to protect our country and ensure a better tomorrow. Your strength and courage will always be remembered. #GodBlessAmerica#USA
