Here's a scruffy bit of our farm that I really like:
1. Mob grazing Luing cattle
2. Wildlife / flood store ponds
3. Lapwing habitat
4. Lesser butterfly orchid wetland
5. Wildflower hay meadow

For me, the government reforms of Agricultural Property Relief (APR) miss two big opportunities
1. The political opportunity Labour had coming in to win over more farmers & ‘deep rural’ voters
2. The policy opportunity to use APR more imaginatively
A 🧵 on what I mean…

Ancient repetitions, wildflowers and acres of cultural memory in the rain-soaked Burren, Co. Clare. Cattle overseen by the ever-gregarious @lockettrichard and with thanks to @BurrenbeoTrust Winterage Weekend - article at https://t.co/lxc6WVXTnP
A wee visit to the Burren Winterage Festival in Co. Clare with @Gallowaygrouse
Bonny cattle and incredible wildlife woven into a rich cultural heritage. Thanks to @BurrenbeoTrust and all the lovely people we met.
Stumbling across Father Ted's house was a bonus.
Why is there such a dearth of decent electric farm vehicles? Our Polaris EV is 10 years old (same as spaniel) and I love it.
Seems like there is hardly anything available other than cheapo c**p or colossally expensive luxury. Surely there’s a market for sturdy farm EVs? ⚡️🌍
@EsTresidder Hi Es. We’re replacing the Zoe with a Megane. Great range but don’t know about a tow bar option. Pal got a used Kia Niro recently which he’s impressed with. Hired an MG ZS in France this summer which was pretty good.
Some interesting chatter about Aurochs/Tauros coming to the Highlands. Let's not forget the role that hardy native cattle could play in upland environments. Skilled practitioners and an end market already in place.
Also a nice excuse to post some pics of our own coos. 🙂

So chuffed to have a quick blether with @BelugaLagoon and see him play at the @blackislefest this weekend.
His music and wildlife films are wonderful. Check them out if you get a wee sec.
