🎉 Happy Birthday, President Trump! 🎉
Today, we celebrate another year of you being the life of the party! The Log Cabin Republicans salute your leadership and your unwavering stand for our country. Here’s to many more years of success!
Today we honor and remember the brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom. As we gather with family and friends this Memorial Day, let’s take a moment to reflect on their courage and dedication. #MemorialDay#HonorTheFallen#NeverForget
Happy Presidents' Day! 🇺🇸 Today, we celebrate the leaders who have shaped our great nation and honor the values of freedom and democracy. Let's take a moment to reflect on the legacy of our past presidents and their contributions to making America what it is today. #PresidentsDay
As you may have heard, there's a petition circulating for an independent audit of the City of Austin. This Austin Audit (officially the Independent Affordability and Efficiency Initiative) is different from any audit done before in several key ways:
• It's fully independent, conducted by an external contractor hired competitively by the City Auditor (not City Council or management).
• It's comprehensive and citywide in scope, covering all city funds, departments, utilities, enterprises (including Project Connect), staffing levels, performance metrics, vendors, capital assets, revenues, expenditures, and affordability impacts on residents.
• It's recurring and mandatory, required at least every 5 years, and within one year before any future tax rate election.
• It's embedded in the City Charter, making it a permanent part of the city's governing "constitution" and ensuring future generations benefit from a more responsible, transparent government.
• It pays for itself. The firm must commit, via contract, to identifying cost savings that exceed the audit's own expense.
It will completely transform how the City of Austin runs, for generations, but it needs your support to make it to the ballot.
Download, sign, and mail in the petition today https://t.co/x1DyVYwbgt
Deadline February 1st.
Rights don’t disappear all at once.
They’re regulated piece by piece, little by little, until future generations don’t remember ever having them.
That’s the danger.
🎄✨ Merry Christmas to all! May your day be filled with joy, love, and laughter surrounded by family and friends. Let's spread the holiday cheer and make beautiful memories together! #MerryChristmas
Austin City Council Spending Deep Dive
We have reviewed the full list of Austin City Council members’ credit card transactions. We reviewed them long, and we reviewed them hard.
What we found was yikes.
It was $445,628.37 charged to government credit cards.
Nearly half a million dollars. Swiped. Tapped. Billed.
Happy Thanksgiving! Today, we reflect on all the things we are grateful for. Whether it's family, friends, or the little moments that bring us joy, let's take a moment to appreciate them. #Thanksgiving#Gratitude#Thankful
New: Save Austin Now launching petition that could force ATX to perform “external and performance-based affordability and efficiency initiative.” W/ enough signatures, would go to council to either adopt or put on the May ballot for voters to decide.
